Hi Friends, I am back in Las Vegas, jet lag and all..Feeling like I am living in a Twilight Zone episode! My heart is in NYC with my boyfriend and all the great culture there...But it is also wonderful to be with my dogs and see my dear brother again! Mixed emotions are causing all kinds of TMS symptoms...Financial stress is a big contributor as well..Being an artist and living as one is not always easy..On a positive note, check out my new art website and visit again in a week or so..it is in the making..You can find the link in my profile listed here if you like... Hugs and blessings, Karen |

Kind of weird that this board would be used among other things, for promoting one's own Web site. All of us are artists, in one way or another. I thought we were all here for a higher purpose. Whatever ... |

Wow...a bit of an over-reaction I think, Andrew...You don't even know me..I have been on here and made many friends for quite some time..I wanted to share something Positive with them, namely my new site..I am not going to do this repeatedly and it's not just for promoting myself either...Occasionally topics are discussed that are even further away from TMS then my post which was not ONLY about my site. Sorry you chose to allow my post to offend you. |

Hi Andrew, I think if someone had rarely or never posted here before that would be one thing. But this is a community for many people and therefore a different situation for folks who have been around here a while. People have had get togethers and talked on the phone and shared all sorts of things. Karen has posted here (I see) 689 times, and no other post I remember referred to her site. She is one of the core folk here and contributes a lot and many of us are very interested to learn more about the others who share our struggles.
Karen, I'm glad you are back with the dogs! I hope you guys are finding some solution for the dog alleries. |

Glad you're back in vegas karen, I felt sorry for your dogs, men are a dime a dozen. It's too bad you weren't able to take advantage of seeing the GOOD DOCTOR while you were there.
Actually Alexis and Karen, I don't think Andrew was over-reacting, maybe just medium to under-reacting and I don't think his tone was offensive, more bemused, what-everish.
I agree that all kinds of things are discussed on this board, even global warming, remember what fun that was?--he, he, he.
I'm an artist too and am on the shorts a bit myself, I may consider linking my web-site too. I think the more we know about each other the better we can deliver the TMS tough-love we all need. Maybe we can develop a TMS economy, a form of psychogenic bartering for life's necessities.
Karen, please tell us you're not feeling vulnerable, so that Art doesn't jump all over me as usual. I've been walking on egg-shells around here lately in fear of Art putting the PC hammer down on me for me being me. I agree, we artists must stick together, the bourgeois realities of life relly suck.
Only another 60 pages of TDM to read and then I'm outta' here myself and it's back to the market to try to eek out some bucks for my retirement. Anyone got any tips for me, besides don't bet on the horses?
Peace, tt |

Actually, Andrew, it was also my understanding that members were not to publicize their web sites. Maybe Dave can comment on this. In any case, Singer Artist, your art work is spectacular!

Hi Curiosity, Are these policies published somewhere?
Seems like the best place to put these things, in that case, is in one's bio. I have seen quite a few people do that and there it's really a matter of reading when you want. |

It's a bit obscure but if you look straight up in the right hand top corner, there's a button that says "POLICY", that has the board policies. I don't personaly object to Karen plugging her sight since her art is very pretty and artists need all the help we can get. |

Thanks Tom, I had actually read that a while back but forgot all about it. I guess if you were going to be really technical it could fall under "Advertising". I suppose different people would interpret the one word policy a little differently. The intent of the law, as they say, was, I would suspect, to keep advertisers from trying to sell viagra or their latest "Cure RSI with NutriClean" or whatever.
But doesn't really bother me either way. I was more put off by the way Andrew said what he said which was, I think, unintentionally a little rude. But I know you and I differ on our beliefs as to whether the way things are said is important. Anyway, I'm not going to go all Miss Manners here since I think the wording was just unfortunate and I don't really think Karen cares herself.
At any rate, I would probably want to spell out that policy a little more tightly.
Hmmm...reading that list of policies I think the copyrighted material issue has been breached a bit. Not by you, Tom--you post quotes well within the fair use guidelines. But some full articles have been posted here. I won't say what I think should be done for fear of violating the "How the Forum should be run" policy. Just kidding. Really I think the guidelines look very good.

Man, you could write a book and I would be the first to buy it. "Life On An Online TMS Message Board: One's man's odysessy to free himself from pain" can be the title. The matrial us right there in front of you. |

Wow!!! Thank you everyone for your support and for your kind words on my artwork! You guys are great and have made my day..I really didn't mean to break any rules, I am a good TMS perfectionist..:) In any case, I am so glad you enjoyed the art and I can't wait til the website is completed, there's alot more to come.. It is great to be with my doggies, but bitter sweet because it is causing a strain on my relationship back in NYC..And my neck is acting up, not surprising at all..Guess I have to get back to journaling asap..I have soooo many conflicting and confusing emotions deep inside..Anger is definitely one of them..I was angry, at first when Andrew wrote what he wrote..mainly because I abhor sarcasm..ie..the "Whatever" comment..Sarcasm seems alot more hostile then just regular anger in my book..Anyway, I am happy with the way I handled it and touched by all your comments.. Hugs, Karen

Alexis, Please, where can I get my hands on some NutriClean FAST? Just Kidding
TT, How's the tennis going? The weather's supposed to hold out until Saturday, then we get the slightly cooler stuff. As far as the advice about retirement, I'd start by not treating for dinner, especially when you were invited.

or their latest "Cure RSI with NutriClean" or whatever. Well, it couldn't be worse than some of the things people really try!

The paintings are good but the website is kind of dull and empty and under construction imo.
I'm an artist, too. Anyway, after how many posts can one legally publish their website url?

Hi H20,
I guess I'm just a traditional kind'a guy, can't let the ladies pay. The tennis is both good and bad. I had to drop out of the Nat. Tournament. I played a practice match with some of the guys there and didn't feel it would be fair to my partner to try to compete. It turns out he has a sore elbow and wanted to drop out of the dubs. too. After driving cross country and not hitting a ball since before Christmas, my timing was way off and I'm out of shape from the weight gain. So I'm relegated to club tennis where I kick their butts. I'm stuck--can't compete physicaly at the tournament level and have to suffer the emotional garbage that occurs with tennis at the club level--the TMS cunumdrum. So I'll watch some great players at the tournament and cheer 'em on; you can learn alot by watching good players, and have some fun kickin' butt at the club.
I'll head over to Lauderdale and check out the action there. Gotta' take the Jeep in for an oil change, tire rotation and a good washing. Good to be in Florida though, probably the only place on the continent that isn't frozen--it's a good place to be stuck.

Thanks Shawn, if I can "fix" my hip someday and run like I used to, I'll write a book. My case is the other side of the TMS coin. I do the inner-searching work but am lazy on the physical side. I won't follow a rigorous diet, useing food for soothing. I should be in the gym trying to build up my atrophied right leg. The powerful nocebo effect of being dx'ed by two TMS docs with arthritis and the negative reinforcement of everytime I walk on the court, someone asking me why I don't get a hip-replacement, is difficult to overcome. If I write a book I'll call it "The Mindbody Krispi-Kreme Prescription".
