I had gone to the podiatrist for some foot pain.
I bike 5+ days a week, and I used to run a bunch.
I have had some "neuroma" type pain b4 from snowboarding.
I told the podiatrist that I did not want any injections, etc.

He suggested giving orthodics a shot to take some of the pressure off of my feet as I am so active.

Has anyone gone this route with any success? I am consistently reviewing my emotional issues, and I work with a sarno therapist in NY.

Thanks.

I doubt you need orthotics for biking. Distance running could be another matter. Personally, I have used prescribed orthotics for running for over 20 years and I think they are great.

Dr. Sarno seems to think that everyone has evolved perfect feet for running, and the foot and knee pain that others think come from pronated ankles and such is really from unconscious rage. That's one place where I part company with him.

I suspect that a lot of attention to correct running form and lots of exercise to strengthen the arches, feet and ankles, would eliminate the need for orthotics for many people. If that makes sense to you, check out Pete Egoscue's book "Pain Free", specifically the section about foot pain.

Thanks Gary...

I just picked up the "pain Free" book, and I am going to give it a read this weekend.

So are you actually having pain or do you just think you are on your feet too much?

I have been having pain in pad of my right foot.
ala "neuroma" which I do not really put any stock in. However I do ride alot(5+ days a week) So I am always working my feet hard.

Running always beat up my feet, so I have strayed away from it. This is why I was considering the orthodics.
