I wonder how important the tapping is, it seems like he is reconditioning with the use of affirmations, but tapping too.

My thoughts exactly. I think it is about binding the affirmations to some sort of ritual, but that is just a hunch.

Here are my reflections based on watching dozens upon dozens of Faster EFT videos.

Anything you have experienced in the past is now a memory. These events no longer exist in reality as they are over, they are in the past. But they are internally represented in your mind, which means you remember past events in a certain way via thoughts, sounds words and emotions. But your memories and the past events are not synonymous. Your memories of past events are merely how you interpret or see them and cannot be mistaken with being the events themselves, which, as I stated, no longer exist as they are over. You have the capacity to change how you internally represent, or remember, past events. What really happened in the past can never really be answered with full accuracy because the only thing we have to go on is our memories and how we internally represent those past events. As I stated, memories and our internal representations of past events should not be seen as being synonymous, because they are not. But you may say that a certain event(s) really did take place and there is no way that can be denied. But that is not what we are addressing here. What we are addressing is how these past events -- whether they took place 30 years ago or 5 minutes ago -- are internally represented in your mind. Don't confuse you memories and these internal representations you have in your mind with the past events themselves. How do you remember something? What words do you use when describing it? What images pop in your mind? What sounds do you hear when you think about a past event? What emotions do you feel when you recall a past event? These are all important questions and how you answer them will point towards how you internally represent past events which you carry around with you, sometimes for many decades. You cannot change the past but you can go back and change how you internally represent it. This is true no matter how horrendous you feel the event was. This is how Faster EFT can help people. But many people will insist that their internal representation of past events are synonymous with what actually happened and get stuck there. This is why they will resist these ideas and continue to carry these memories within them and, as a result, cause themselves to suffer.

As a PS, I want to note that when someone has been in pain for a long time it is difficult to imagine what it would be like to not be in pain. The daily experience of their lives is associated with pain so that every memory that they have is accompanied with pain. Every thought that they think, every movement that they make and every decision that is taken is always coupled with pain so that when they peer into the future it seems impossible imagine to see their lives not riddled with pain. When the sufferer reflects on this, a deep sense of despair sets in as they feel trapped by their own bodies. They will try many things to rid themselves of the pain but despite their many efforts the pain remains solidly in place. The begin a downward spiral as they attach to the belief that their bodies are breaking down and that they will never recover. All of life's joys and pleasures cannot be experienced by them because when they try to experience pleasure, pain is always present to ruin it for them.

It is a work in process. I takes time and effort.

That was a great video. Thanks Shawn.
Yes it is difficult to see the value of the tapping. Opinions vary greatly. I read something from Peter Levine saying that the tapping point that matters is the collar bone spot. Robert Scaer sees the power of EFT in the ritual itself.

Shawnsmith:
I looked at a couple of the videos and it seems like his methods are consistent with TMS. The videos I saw spoke of healing psychological pain but didn't explicitly mention physical pain. Does he address that anywhere?
Thanks for pointing Robert Smith out. I suspect that his techniques are a form of reprogramming.

He has numerous videos on youtube on physical pain. Just search "faster EFT and pain."

My thinking is if you truely believe in it and think it will work, it will work.

Robert says in many videos that you can call it bull**** and it still works.

I absolutely agree. To me, this is the only explanation for dozens of modalities that seem to have no basis in science, biology, etc.

I am not sure it is entirely based on beliefs. Maybe as Scaer says, to recall a past event in some sort of ceremonial way is beneficial.
You don't recall a past trauma just to make yourself miserable but doing that tapping stuff and saying affirmations at the same time may be of therapeutic value.

After viewing a few of his videos I realize that his techniques are a clever form of reprogramming. For example if someone’s words are bothering you he suggests imagining a cartoon character saying the same words. Then whenever the memory of those words return you see Donald Duck saying the same thing and an unpleasant experience is replaced with an amusing image.
Reprogramming is mentioned frequently on this forum but so far I haven’t seen any practical guidance in accomplishing it aside from affirmations. I’m not sure what utility the “tapping” has. Perhaps it is just a harmless way to imprint the message you are trying to send your brain.

That is a technique straight out of NLP (neurolinguistic programming) if my memory is correct and one Eric has described before, I don't think it's anything Robert Smith came up with.
