My back pain has gotten a lot better since posting with the "dizzy" people. Now I am dealing with a new pain that has me a bit concerned. I haven't reached the point of going to the doctor yet, but I'm getting close!

I mentioned in previous posts that I had burning mouth several years ago. It pretty much disappeared when I started having vertigo, except for the occasional twinge. Now that the back pain is better the burning mouth is flaring up, with a new twist. The pain is on the left side of my mouth. After I had it for a couple of days I started having a pain on the right side of my head, close to the jaw but above the joint. It has spread upward until it is in the temple area. I think it is the result of tension in my mouth due to the burning, but this has not happened before. It does not feel like TMJ either. I have also had that from time to time. I am getting a bit concerned about whether I might have had a stroke, but I really don't think so. There is no numbness or other symptoms, just the pain, which really feels more like pressure than pain.

Has anyone out there experienced anything like this? For now I am treating it as a new TMS manifestation, but maybe it is time to have it checked out. One of the things that scares me about TMS is that now I have the tendency to dismiss everything. Someday I will have something serious and I'll ignore it!

Hi Carol,

I suffered with severe headaches for several years. It is hard to imagine that there is nothing seriously wrong when pain/pressure is so severe but of course it went away when I dealt with the underlying emotional things. It sounds like you are really thinking alot about the pain, how it feels, where abouts it is etc - very good distractions. Maybe you need to refresh yourself with the best medecine, Sarno - as long as you are thinking about the pain it is doing it's job very effectively. The fact that your symptoms move around suggest that it is TMS at work.

My experience of doctors when I had headaches was when one painkiller didn't work, try another different one. Or do tests for sinus problems, or an xray - I was convinced I had a tumour or something equally aweful. Each time - nothing wrong. Just one long waste of time worrying and a lot of money down the tubes while life passes by. But of course there was something wrong - a lot of emotional issues bubbling away and getting ignored.

I know what you mean about ignoring something serious - but don't forget that generally our bodies are very healthy and resilient.

Good luck

Hi Carol,

If you think it's serious have a doctor check it out to relieve your fears that it's a stroke or the like. I have had several panic attacks over the years, that I feared were heart attacks--thinking you're about to die can cause a bit of fear. I got it checked out at my doctor and he said I was in perfect health. It was due to a double shot mocha-latte that gave me palpatations, exacerbated by the fear factor of imminent death. Rather than fretting about it, see the doc, and learn what the symptoms are for a stroke for future reference. If they want to cut you, do more research and get a second opinion from a TMS doctor.

robbokop,

I wasn't aware you suffered from headaches! Me too. I'm sure you have read my posts, my story, etc. But what exactly were your symptoms like; if you don't mind describing.
