I found some interesting information re what researcher Barbara L Fredrickson calls the "3 to 1 Positivity Ratio" ... She is the Director of the Positive Emotions and Psychophysiology (PEP) Lab out of the U of North Carolina. It reminded me very much, of course, of Dr Sarno's concept of the RAGE SOOTHE RATIO. (ie when the RAGE is bigger than the SOOTHE, then one has TMS symptoms!)

Fredrickson has a very interesting on-line quiz on her site, where one can not only score one's current "3 to 1 ratio" but also track it, with a graph which will show your average "Positivity Ratio" over 2 weeks.

Here's the link: http://www.positivityratio.com/

I am wondering if boosting up my "3 to 1 / Rage-Soothe Ratio" will result in my feeling better. (My chronic "sinus headaches" and their daily meds are long gone, but I have been wondering whether my current on/off fatigue symptoms are TMS.) I think this would also indicate something about having more FUN in one's life, which is something that Steve O talks about in his book (?) (Haven't read the book yet, but following the posts about it with great interest!)

Just as a note, I have done the quiz myself, and the first time I did it, I got a Positivity Ratio of 0 !! YES 0 !! The 2nd time, it had increased a bit: up to .14 ! (I will be keen to see if/how this improves over the next couple of weeks.)

If you do the quiz, it would be really interesting if you posted what your ratio is, and whether there's any correlation to your TMS symptoms (or lack, thereof!)
