Ok has anyone here ever expirienced panic/anxiety attacks when pain is not present? for the last 3 days ,the painhas remained in scale level,very bad,but when it dissapears for a couple of minutes and today is been gone for two hours then i get this anxiety/panic attack,it is so weird,why do i get this attacks when i should be happy that the pain is not present?
I have been doing the wikipedia approach religiously ,and thinking pshycologically,but this panic attacks are really scarring too!
oh and a lot of dizzines too ,before the anxiete/panic shows up.

I've never experienced that, so I can't help you. But are you tapering off or ceased any of your medication?

Hey lara,

I just posted something about this. I DO get panic/anxiety attacks with the pain or without the pain. These attacks are somehow throwing me into a vicious circle: panic/anxiety attack -> thinking about pain and its consequences on my life -> pain increases -> panic/anxiety attacks increase-> and so on

I do not know how to deal with it yet. I tried sitting down and thinking about what is bothering me. But even when I know it, it is very hard to get out.

The symptom imperative!

See a therapist or follow some of the writing exercises people have mentioned in other threads.

Personally, breath meditation helps w my anxiety.

The pain is real! The cause...well, that's complicated. ;)

@ Taylojoh yeas i am tappering the neurontin,today will be day 6 ,i was taking 900 mg,and since monday last week i am taking 600 mg,i decided to do it because i see no improvement with pain and at the seame time i am gaining weight,feel like a zombie and having irritation in my gums.

@ Sarnotic Nerve,what do you mean the symptom is imperative?
the only thing that seems to work for me when having those attacks is walking,not the same "high" runnning gives,but somehow similar.,but sometimes is 30 degrees outside !and is not the same runnin g and sweating than just walking like a 100 yr old woman ughh however i am trying to fond a good therapist,i do "try" to meditate also.

Lara,

My main problem started as anxiety, disguised as sinus headaches. I then was fed a cocktail of allergy meds by a doc that gave me full-blown panic/anxiety which I couldn't shake. (Tried meds, no help, etc.) I'm not trying to work my way through (hopefully) the last rounds of withdrawal from the benzos I was on. (Low dose daily.)

I find that my symptoms take turns. If I have high anxiety, my back is usually fine. If I have a bad headache, my anxiety is lower. If my body feels fine for a day or two... the anxiety/panic will try to kick up.

I'm just taking it a day at a time, and trying to make progress. I've gotten much better at living my life with it... but am hoping it can go away completely if my level of acceptance improves. (Part of me still worries this is a physical issue, which I know it's not.) I also think I need to gain better control of my fear.

Hopefully Hillbilly and Balto will chime in here. They always have excellent anxiety-related advice.

Of course, I think anything by Claire Weekes should be mandatory reading... if you haven't already.

Hi Lara,

I have been getting panic attacks and light anxiety recently, once again. I don't know what is triggering it. I would rather have the quirky TMS pain than anxiety or panic attacks, to be honest. At least panic attacks are short (but intense) whereas anxiety can last for hours. Cutting down on caffeine and exercise will help keep them at bay, and when you are having it- tell yourself it's not real, like "Oh- it's just a panic attack", down playing it, and distract yourself somehow.
Daily meditation works wonders as well. I wish you the best.

Also- (I just came across this) Solar flare radiation plays havoc on human behavior, along with the power grids, communication systems, and navigation satellites. Researchers have found correlations between mood swings, depression and suicides when solar flare radiation is present. Another study that was done in Russia showed the same type of correlation with depression and suicide as the other two studies mentioned above. According to an article on the website Sunlightenment, “the geomagnetism peaks matched up with the peaks of suicide, depression, mood disorders and anxiety.

Lara,
I never had any anxiety at all until I first recovered from my physical symptoms. I now understand that is because I was so good at repressing my emotions and once I took away the physical distraction, there it was. In fact the very first anxiety I ever had was the first night I started journaling when I woke up screaming in the middle of the night- that was part of what made me realize that SArno was right. Now that I am pain free, I defintely do have a lot stronger emotions and do experience anxiety that at times I feel like is worse than the physical pain. If I were you I'd think of it as a sign that you may have gotten your TMS on the move which is actually a great sign particularly if you have already noticed that it comes when there is no pain! Treat anxiety just like you would your physical symptoms, give it as little attention as you can and try to go about your day. Journaling, meditation, yoga and therapy are all very useful as treatments for either. I know it's tough but you just don't want to start fearing the anxiety since that strengthens it just like fear strengthens the pain.

Everything has a backside - like a yin to every yang, and what has helped me with anxiety is realizing it is just enthusiasm and energy turned inside-out. It is actually a step up from depression, which saps energy.

A good mantra when finding oneself anxious: "Ooh I love this energy!" "Ooh I love this energy!"

Love is the answer, whatever the question

Negative thoughts = negative feelings and negative feelings which are repressed or ignored = TMS

It's really simple.

I used to get anxiety and depression........I then started to observe the crap going on in my head. Once I changed the negative thoughts the negative feelings went.
we over complicate things...it's really easy, just stop focusing on the negative in your life and start to see the positive in things. It is what it is (whatever situation) and thinking negatively does nothing but create negative feelings.

Get what is going on in your head under some kind of control....start meditating for 5 mins when you wake and before you go to sleep.

Well,this are my MRN (NEUROGRAPHY) results,i might be anxious,depressed or whatever,but this isn't my mind,i injured myself running,and that's a fact,i ran too much..

IMPRESSION: No MR evidence of pudendal nerve abnormality.

however...

VASCULAR:
Diffusse congestion of the pelvic veins.

MUSCLES/TENDONS
Hamstring tendon: Tendinosis bilaterally.

What do you think?

Many marathon runners don't have tms/anxiety.

Symptoms will stay with you if you keep thinking something is wrong physically.

Hi Lara,

Have you talked to your doctor about the results? I'm not sure what the second one is, but the first one you mentioned sounds like pelvic congestion syndrome. Is that the diagnoses?

OKKK Balto,you just said it,many ,not all of them right? and i did run a marathon ,and two half-marathons .plus i ran 6 miles 5 or 6 days a week,i know it was too much,but i did it.
everybody is different ,and i tried not to focus on m ypain when i felt it the first time,now i am paying the consequences,plus i haven't accepted yet that i also have a nerve damage,in my pelvis.
Or do you think that the MRN is incorrect? nah ,this isn't created by my mind ,nope.

I don't have knowledge of the second result she mentioned. However, pelvic congestion syndrome I've researched a lot. It does sound like a condition that could cause pain due to oxygen deprivation and pooling of blood. Basically, it's like having a whole bunch of vericose veins in the pelvic area.

I don't think it's right to just disregard the results if it is a condition that could likely cause her pain, not everything is TMS. This is why Dr Sarno says it is important to get scans. I realize that even abnormalities can show up that are attributed to causing pain that really doesn't. But that is not always the case.

this makes it impossible for anyone on this forum to contribute to you! You obviously don't believe your symptoms are emotional....and have evidence that it's a physical condition.....not sure what you're trying to ask.

Me too ..i tought i might had TMS until
Yesterday that i receiveid my MRN report. Dont get mad at me lol cause i dont have tms . I wish !!!
