Hi All,

It's been a while since I posted.

I just need some advise.

6 months ago my elderly Mom suffered a stroke and was paralized on the whole right side of her body. The stroke effected her speech.

I've been caregiving and living with my elderly Parent's. I won't go into detail, but, it's been tough. I have no life right now and I am working a part time job.

On January I started experience what is know as De Quervain syndrome in my left thumb. Then started LEFT foot pain.

I am so scared, i want to believe this is TMS, but, I keep thinking it is Rheumatoid Arthritis.

There is NO signs of Rheumatoid, but, when I looked up De Quervain's it said that the possible cause could be Rheumatoid.

6 years ago, I had Rheumatoid test done and it came up NEGATIVE. The only reason why it was done was that my doctor did it to satisfy my fear...

Two weeks ago i was involved in a car accident and suffered whiplash and believe it or not my Neck doesn't bother me.

I can tell you how much stress I have on my life as of now...

My question is does my symptons Thumb and Foot pain sound like TMS?

Should I go and get Re test for Rheumatoid?

I do play guitar and I am so afraid to play right now...

I am going to purchase The Great Pain Deception by Steve ASAP

Any Advise would be helpful!

Thanks,

Kalo

I would also recommend the book: "hope and help for your nerve" by Dr. Claire Weekes. She would help you out. It sound like you're very panic right now. You have it rough right now and your mind is full of negative thoughts. Prolong stress and negative thought would create all kind of symptoms. Do try give yourself a break sometimes and do thing you enjoy, meet up with good friends, relatives. Your mind need something positive to help your relax.

Wow, thanks Balto!!!

I am STRESSED and I believe that is why all the pain...

It didn't happen right away though....

I am the only sole care giver to my Mom and it's not easy...

I always think fearfully and I know better than to read stuff on the net pretaining to diseases..

Not all De Quervain's is Rheumatoid...But, still that Hypochdonria in me wants to confirm I don't have it...

Even though I tested Negative 6 years ago....

Would you sugessted that I start playing guitar even with the pain?

And you are right I need to go out more, but, it is tough right now...

Thanks,

Kalo

Kalo, unfortunately I haven't slept at a Holiday Inn Express in quite a while, so I've lost my medical quack's license, but judging by your post it's TMS and not RA. RA is rare and no relation to the common osteo-arthritis. If you were tested for it six years ago and came back negative you're probably still negative since I think it's of auto-immune in origin but I'm no rheumatologist. If it eases your mind and your wallet can afford it get tested again or call that doctor and see if it's possible for you to be getting it now.

Keep playing your guitar, I can't see how that can cause any damage.

Thanks Tennis Tom!!!

Yes, RA is an auto immune disease and yes, I was tested 6 years ago and was negative.

I have NO physical symptons of the disease at all...NONE!!!

Beause of my Health Anxiety, and reading somewhere that De Quervain Syndrome can be a cause if one had RA...Well, that is what got me scared...

I will resume my playing. I will say it is not easy because well, the pain SCARES me...

Thanks for your words of wisdom!
