Hi there, this is my 1st post.
i suffer chronic pain and numbness in by back/buttocks/legs , ever since an epidural punctured my dura, causing spinal fluid leak to my brain, then spticiema (sp?)
anyway, i have always believed that the needle caused nerve damage within spinal cord, and that i had Neuropathic Pain,
but now im wondering if it could be that i have TMS ? as i have alot of un-resolved anger/emotions/childhood issues to deal with.
anyway back to my question, if i went to a GP in UK would they know or believe in TMS if i were to mention it?
many thanks, best wishes to all, mel xx |

Here is a thread that is UK-specific--just a few down from yours. http://www.tmshelp.com/forum/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=4370
Though some docs may have some idea the mind/body works together, most are used to treating physical symptoms only. The media has come out with articles showing the effects of stress (clearly mind/body connection) but still so many people are conditioned to look for a physical (not emotional) cause. And this is what docs are trained to treat--the physical. There are some who are open to more though. . .even in the US TMS docs are not what I'd call abundant!
Best wishes for healing,
-Lori |
