hmnnnn... sounds familiar.....

maybe we should all write in to the show & tell her about Sarno, like someone did with Rosie O'Donnell's producer years ago. it would be great to see Dr Sarno on Ellen... imagine all the ppl who would learn about TMS with an audience as big as that!

My mother watches the show and told me that last week Ellen happened to be talking about back problems and mentioned Dr Sarno's "Healing Back Pain" book by name. My mother is 85, so she could have misunderstood, but she is a sharp 85 most of the time ;)

Howard Stern mentioned he might send her a letter letting her know it's emotional problems. Obviously telling her of Sarno.

I watched the tape of her yesterday's show that my mother had taped. Wonder if the damage is legit? Doctors told her she has a torn ligament. Did she really just lean over to pick up her dog? Can't imagine a torn ligament over that. Something sounds out of whack here ;)

My wife watches the show and it caught my ear so I checked it out. Her MRI, which was shown, had three degenerated discs (which her MD said was normal for anyone over 30), but there was blood and tissue behind one of the discs where the tendon was torn. Didn't even know that could happen. A possible take on this: her pain and stiffness is quite normal for a torn tendon, but if it still hurts after a "normal" healing period (a few weeks?), she should look into Sarno.

Dr. Sarno would say if the dog was too heavy she couldn't have picked it up--what does she have anyway, a Newfoundland or an English Wolfhound?

If it's a legit injury, she probably got it during rough-sex and doesn't want to 'fess up to it.

Yes, it will be interesting to see how this progresses. I'm sure my mother will keep me updated....LOL!

Here's the vid
I guess it answers my question. They hope she'll be dancing again in a few weeks. I suppose when he says she has 3 degenerated discs, that could haunt her. Hope not. But it appears to be a real injury. The doc said when she bent that "it" seperated. What seperated? The facet joint?

skizzik: thanks for the link.

That might be educational enough for folks just to hear a doctor say that everyone over 30 has some kind of funky disc things going on.

I love Ellen. Watching her show with it's constantly positive messages was one of the things that helped me really stick with Sarno. After all you really have to BELIEVE that Sarno is the answer to your pain issues, so I owe a lot to the Ellen show for keeping me believing!

Get well soon, Ellen! I agree I'll send a message about Sarno if the pain sticks around. Strikes me from watching the show that Ellen drinks to deal with her problems, and if she's on crazy pain meds for the back it's more likely THAT would be her issue. I'll have to stay tuned.
