I keep getting these e-mails from a "Mike Freeman" about the "3 minute depression cure". You know, it's one of those "listen to me friend" yada yada, then hits you w/ "the enter cred card # here" to be e-mailed the program.
I would assume I get the e-mails because I've done quite a bit of "Depression" searches over the past few months (as well as several other TMS equivalents) and it must've targeted me.
Anyways, I can't be the only one who gets these e-mails...Has anyone found out what the 3 min cure is? In his pitch, he's against anti-depressents, so maybe he does have some value....anyone?

Anything that advertises like that, with so little information, a couple of hooks (3 minutes, anti-anti-depressants), and not even a website or *anything* to show it's not just a hoax, I would be VERY skeptical of. Unless you've got *hard* evidence that this guy is real, serious, and knows what he's talking about, I'd advise strongly against giving him your credit card number. After all, if he's not, then he just got your credit card number. |

I don't know this Mike Freeman, but there actually is a 3-minute depression cure. It doesn't involve money, credit cards, props or anything else. You simply breathe in deeply while visualizing "Positivity in," and then exhale deeply and completely while visualizing "Negativity out." Do this three or four times and then get up and go for a walk, meanwhile concentrating on being in the "now," as opposed to stewing over the past or the future. Sounds silly but visualization can be a powerful tool. Moreover, if you do it regularly, your Basic Self (Inner Child, Autonomic Nervous System, or whatever you want to call that bothersome little twerp that causes so many problems) will eventually get the message since it seems to be a creature of habit. |

thanx for the replies yog and shar. He's definitely not getting any acct #'s of mine (even though money bk guaruntee).
the positive in/out breathing sounds interesting and will have to give it a shot, since the breathing techniques are very popular w/ the anti-depress/anxiety programs. I wonder if it's (the 3 min cure) is some type of meditation like that. Anyone else ever here of what it is?

nope, no idea if it's a scam or if he's the real deal...but I can't deny Im very intrigued, but besides phobic and anxiety sufferer I won't be an idiot that just because of a bit of weakness can allow a smart ass slip his hand into my pocket. Will try anything else out there that's free, like the breathing positivity, expelling negativity (thanks for that tip by the way, anyone that's ever willing to help in these problems for no cost I consider God Sent). Why not try it! what is there to lose? And does anyone know how much this 3 minute brain switch thing (which I do truly believe it is a matter of a switch in these anxiety, depression, whatever mental problem)cost? Mikey doesn't mention anything about price and just asks for your credit card number...hahahahhaaha, funny guy... |

How it works is that you give him your money, and he sends you some silly thing and you get so angry it cures your depression.
(Because depression is anger turned inwards and, in fact, that's true - so another 3-min cure is to beat a pillow for 3 mins every day and keep journalling, journalling, ranting, venting...)

I have found that living with physical challenges for years can make it really easy for me to feel cynical about all sorts of things that Life presents me with. However, being a bit of the adventurous type...I have also found that I have benefited much more than I have lost when it came to exploring new things. When I read what y'all have posted here in response to this person asking if anyone has tried Mike Freeman's depression cure... I find myself wondering if despair about one's situation is being expressed here more than wariness about an opportunity. I mean come on... there's no scam here... like almost all informational products on the web these days... Mike offers a money back guarantee. I explore informational products all the time on the web and I have never had a problem getting a refund.... ever. When did a therapist ever do that for you? I plan on checking it out just because I have discovered that the most amazing tools can show up in my life in shapes and sizes that I never would have ever guessed. What's my actual risk here? A little time. And if Mike's method turns out to be ineffective for me... that's ok... that just means that I can clear that one off my plate and open as deeply as I can to whatever the next moment of Life chooses to offer me. |

I did a little poking around and couldn't find the "official site" for Mike Freeman and his "cure". No biggie. Mike is likely someone who figured out something for himself and is marketing it. Personally I don't have a problem with that at all.
Now, if he is sending to a legitimate email for someone who subscribed and entered their email address, then he's just being a good marketer. If he doesn't have your permission to send you the email and isn't offering a link at the bottom for unsubscribing - then he's a spammer. Yikes.
I am a marketer who uses email and there are rules and even laws that need to be taken seriously. Spam complaints are NO good for your business.
Anyway, in my search, I found this tip at Dr Johns Health File: (I edited it for better grammar.)
The BOLD paragraph is what you should pay attention to. While it seems completely silly - I've tried similar approaches and it does lift your mood. Done for 20 days - you can ingrain a habit and make a change.
"What does depressed person's posture like? It's not hard to visualize a person who is depressed. Depressed people often walk around with their eyes down. (They're accessing in a kinesthetic mode and/or talking to themselves about all the things that make them feel depressed.) They drop their shoulders. They take weak, shallow breaths. They do all the things that put their body in a depressed physiology. Are they deciding to be depressed? They sure are. Depression is a result, and it requires very specific body images to create it.
We all have experienced it. If you do these to your body, you are going to feel lousy. You are going to feel depressed. Now, if you change the way you use your body. Put your shoulders back, breathe deeper and use your voice in a confident and different way and move your body with a stronger and more confident tempo.
It’s hard to feel depressed that way.
In fact there’s a research studied at the University of California, Berkeley. They tried something different without using drugs. They did something that appeared actually pretty stupid at face value.
Here’s what they did. They came up with a simple approach that they took people that are clinically depressed. They had these ‘patients’ come for 4 weeks, stand in front of a mirror and do one silly thing. They asked them to grin from ear to ear and they made these people smile for no good reason for 20 minutes 7 days a week.
Now when they are doing this, they grin so big that they created a wrinkle on their side of the eyes. You know those sets of lines that when you smile so big?
They kick their shoulders back while they are doing it and breathe fully. They go, “Dumb idea!” But what happens is that not a single person was able to remain depressed. What's most interesting is, at the end of the 20 days, many of them had no need for medications as a result of this 20 minutes of grinning."
I kind of agree: Changing the use of your body CAN change your mind. Mind Body - Body Mind. It's all connected.
Go forth and smile like an idiot. Might just get rid of your depression! LOL
