I posted a while back about pain suddenly occurring on the right side of my abdomen, and which was severe enough to end up in the emergency room back in April. Since the first thing we should always do is rule out anything structural, I had an ultrasound of my gallbladder, liver and kidneys. Nothing. Then I had a hydascan to check the function of the gallbladder. Everything was fine.
Fast forward to May 18, where another attack occurred. This time I was sent for an ultrasound of my uterus and ovaries, and an appointment scheduled with a ob/gyn specialist. Again, nothing was found, only some fluid in the abdomen. My doctor concluded it may have been a fibroid cyst that ruptured.
The day of my appointment with the specialist (31st), I got up to run and started to have pain in my right abdomen. Not the searing, bent over pain of before, but enough pain to stop running. It was then sore the remainder of the day. The specialist suggested I was having muscle spasms. Can those really hurt that bad? And how on earth do you get a muscle spasm in your abdomen? And why in the same place? Her suggestion was to take 800 mg. of ibuprophen 3 times a day for a week. I declined, because that would only be treating a symptom.
Last night I hosted a group of 25 women runners at my house. During my run/walk, I got the pain again, and it persisted throughout the evening and it was PAINFUL.
My therapist said to "embrace" the pain, and to stop and try and recognize what my emotions are at that moment. (She has read, and believes in, Sarno.) Since there is no structural cause for this pain, she says we have to look for an emotional cause.
So it's a distraction, and I found a paragraph that Dave recently wrote: Remember, conscious stress has little to do with the onset of TMS symptoms. In fact, during times of acute stress, symptoms may be less likely because you are already distracted enough. TMS tends to strike when things settle down and all the repressed emotions from those stressful events start perculating in your unconscious, or when a stressful event is forthcoming and you're avoiding thinking about it.
So all my work with the therapy has helped tremendously, other pains have disappeared. Am I now being attacked with this supposed muscle spasm just so TMS can get my attention again?? IT HURTS!!! |

I take a super multi-vitamin that has 200 mg of magnesium and 99 mg of potassium citrate. Any ideas?
I stopped taking calcium, opting to get my calcium from juicing vegetables, and because I read that excess calcium may aggravate arthritis. |
