Posted - 01/31/2013 : 17:10:14 I have placed a * beside those posts which I feel are really excellent. Note, Ace also highly recommend Eckhart Tolle's work. Tolle wrote is his book "A New Earth" the following words: "Life will give you whatever experience is most helpful for the evolution of your consciousness. How do you know this is the experience you need? Because this is the experience you are having at this moment." See also this thread: http://tmshelp.com/forum/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=7998

Posted - 02/24/2013 : 04:33:30 Hi PSPA123, I asked the same question on 2/22. Here is the answer All1Spirit gave me:
"Yes I announced I was changing my forum name to Rikr from All1spirit"
I hope you are well. Lots of things going on with me, haven't been posting much!

Posted - 02/23/2013 : 22:26:55 All1spirit i may be hallucinating but i think i recognize you from another forum because you had the Frost poem wrong there too. The actual poem reads We dance round in a ring and suppose but the Secret sits in the middle and knows. Forgive me if i am mistaken about this. |

When I was in school the common knowledge was if your were going to be a psychologist or psychiatrist and wanted to make a lot of money go where the wealthy people are. They have the luxury of being neurotic.

Mala, I was with those 10 years old boys, I was with those 8 year old girls you've talked about. The physical pain, the physical suffering that happened to them, althoght painful, doesn't have much lasting effect on their life than compare to the pain of loosing one of the loveone or got separate from their family.
We were just happy if we have enough food, water, and our family for the day. The abuse, the violence, the horror of war althoght tough to endure, we always survive as long as we have each other. All alone facing the cruel world, that's what broke many of us.

Posted - 02/01/2013 : 07:22:17 great insights and concepts to ponder upon shawn i really think this is very important for our journey. mala you bring up some intresting points. ive counseled those of rape, abuse, neglect and it right here in my home-town,rome ga i hear of sensless murders and theft everyday of those that have been friends and aquantiences even those ive counseled but they just didnt get the concept-i tried and tried but they wanted (what they thought) was a better life and in the end it was the end of their life as they know it-now some have grown to become counselors theirselves and others have died-some beaten because they thought a person would change .their thoughts had no direction and sad but really they didnt want it. about the boy with no legs and the rape. we can only pray and hope for a better peace to settle upon the earth and with each thought exspressed as a ripple in the water-we hope to change those thoughts of hurt and pain through the either all awhile knowing the more things change-the more they stay the same- god bless |

Posted - 02/01/2013 : 05:38:15 Many times it is essential for a spiritual teacher to be repetitive in order to get his message to sink into the minds of his listeners. He will say the same thing in different ways and use different examples. Yes, Tolle is very influenced by Buddhist teachings, but there are many other influences which also weigh upon his thinking. The main teacher for all these spiritual teachers is suffering. |

Posted - 01/31/2013 : 20:05:09 Eckhart Tolle has many good things to say. Most of what he says & writes about however is repetitive & in many instances he paraphrases the Buddha’s teachings. Here are a few thoughts of mine.
Truth is very subjective. It is easy for people who have 3 meals day, living in places where there is no warfare or threat to their lives on a daily basis to search for the truth. Searching for the truth is a luxury. Going to seminars, buying books, seeing therapists are things only people with money can do. Buddha when he was Siddhartha had many years of luxury before he decided to give it up & go search for the meaning of truth. How about people who cannot afford the luxury of seeking the truth. The 10 year old boy who has never seen a day’s peace & has both legs blown up. The 8 year old girl who is raped & scarred for life. People who live in constant fear & hunger with no water or access to medical aide. People who have been born in refugee camps & live out their life in the most horrific conditions. What does ET say to them? How do they cope? How do they live in the NOW? Do you tell them ‘your thoughts make you suffer’? Is their suffering self inflicted? Surrendering to the moment. How do you explain that to them? Like I said it’s a luxury few can afford. In a way thinking about me me me constantly is a very selfish way to live. Its like I have 2 cars, a house, a golf club membership, go on vacation 3 times a year but oh I’m so terribly sad so let me go find myself. I’ll just spend thousands of dollars on therapy, talk some more about myself & my pitiful life, my crappy job, my stupid boss, the fact that I don’t have time, the stress in my life etc etc.
Just some thoughts. Feel free to comment.
