I have read Dr Sarno's book and also have been to a TMS Doc. I know about the six tender points talked about with TMS. I am wondering though is this tenderness supposed to be radiating all the way from my butt cheek to the back of my knee. When I press on what I call the hollow part of my butt cheek (about where your wallet would be) this causes an INTENSE BURNING in the cheek down to the back and side of my knee. I would consider this more than just tenderness. BTW. I WAS diagnosed with TMS. It seems to me that if there is no inflamation as stated in the books, then I should'nt be able to press on this spot and have that kind of result. I am trying so hard to accept this TMS diagnosis and feel I am very close to doing so. You guys have been a great help and I hope you will help me out with this question also. Thanks

Susie

Joel- forget about the spots and quit pushing on stuff. Each spot of pain is really irrelevant. Beside which, it moves around alot anyway. I did the same thing when I read the book but I felt areas of pain that were sensitive to touch before I had ever heard of tms. Your brain can focus the pain absolutely anywhere and if you are like me, it will. I don't think it is important to understand the exact manner in which your brain causes the pain. If I understand Sarno correctly, he is simply theorizing the oxygen depravation to muscle theory. I truly believe he is correct as I have seen it alot in horses.(I'm in the horse business.)Concentrate on the phychological rather than the physical. It will give you a shortcut to pain relief.
