Hi Everyone,
I just posted this story up on my website:

In this research out of UC Davis, it was found that the practice of mindfulness meditation consistently led to lowered release of cortisol (the stress hormone) in our bodies.
Just more data to support the healing benefits of present moment awareness and mindfulness meditation.

Such a mountain of evidence to support this these days. Question is, when will put doctors start prescribing it?

Bryan,
I think it is happening, but S L O W L Y...
As doctors, we are indoctrinated to believe the allopathic approach to medicine is the ONLY path to health. This will likely take a generation or two to break through, in my opinion.

It is also tough for doctors. After all the usual pain medication failed to give me relief, my GP after 6 months politely suggested to look into mindfulness/relaxation. I was absolutely outraged. I thought the guy didn't believe me and was thinking that I was faking it. I never went back and looked for a different doctor. |

Yeah, for sure Alix. That makes sense. I hope Dr. Z is right and that it's slowly happening. Obviously when this hits most of us at first, we want instant (pill) symptom reduction. But, I feel like a good doctor could work with both approaches and offer good advice at the first visit. One of my GP's tried to throw me on Prozac immediately and told me "you'll have this for the rest of your life." She didn't know me, had very little history with me aside from one other check-up. She was ready to doom me to a life of symptoms and medicine. 2 years later, I'm a 70% or better most days, all from doing the right work... not popping pills. It's really a shame, and thank god for doctors like Dr. Z who are attempting to stand up to the establishment and open people's eyes. |

Thanks for this Dr Z, I think mindfulness meditation is one of the best ways to deal with tms
I struggle to cope sometimes with my mum who has dementia, and I discovered if I can stay mindful of what I am doing at the time then my pain/symptoms are less. Before I tried this, my mum was in my head no matter where I was or what I was doing. My thoughts of her were constant which was not at all healthy! I'm quite new to mindfulness but I can definitely see the benefits.
