I know that ACE1 talks about affirmation!
I was just wondering what you all think about Subliminal Mp3?
They are pre recorded and have lots of different selections...
Thanks,

Just for kicks, I made a subliminal version of Ace's affirmations that I can make available if there is an interest. |

Subliminal were totally discredited 20+ years ago as have been binaural beats. If your ears cant hear the words the auditory nerve will not transmit the information to the brain |

The January 1991 issue of the University of California, Berkeley, Wellness Letter refers to "the complete lack of any scientific evidence that such messages can alter human behavior. Nevertheless, one survey shows that 68 percent of the public believes in subliminal tapes, which are now a $50-million-a-year business." The article goes on to say that "double blind tests have consistently shown that these products [subliminal tapes] fail to produce their claimed effects." Numerous other valid research studies also fail to support the promises made by subliminal promoters.
- Think about the claim for subliminals. The claim is that the unconscious mind can understand messages that are below the level of perception, repeated as many as 100,000 times an hour, at the same time the person is consciously hearing musical or other pleasant sounds. Since the conscious mind processes speech significantly below the level of the subliminal messages, it would be necessary for the unconscious mind to hear more words per hour than the conscious mind. If anyone is helped by such tapes, it must be attributed to the "placebo effect" and not to the tapes, since the human mind (conscious or "unconscious") is neither capable of perceiving such messages nor acting upon them. (In fact, in the Wellness Letter referred to earlier, it was reported that "One research team noted a 'non-specific placebo effect' ... tapes without subliminal messages produced a greater effect that those with them

Hi Alix
Thanks for the offer. I would definitely like to hear your recording. I would prefer a non-subliminal version if you have it though. I've done a couple of recordings myself (not subliminal) but I get tired of the sound of my own voice! |

Kalo don't be so confused. The instructions are all layed out in my keys to healing. Let me know if there is something you don't understand though. Subliminals may help, but I would not use them as a substitute for the affirmations. |

Thanks ACE1,
Okay, so, I understand about doing affirmation in the morning, maybe 5 minutes, and just as I am drifting off to sleep..
However, what if I made pre recorded one...
I have recording equiment pro tools
The only thing is, ugh, just hearing my voice, saying, I am calm, etc...
So, I guess what I am asking is making a pre recorded version with my voice better to do?

I have always tossed around the idea of creating a non-subliminal, TMS-based CD.
Now in the process of upgrading my entire studio which will really boost the audio quality of everything I create. I know an amazingly gifted pianist, George Skaroulis, who was interested in collaborating on a project. His music is so beautiful and relaxing. I believe I have purchased everything he has ever created.
I have always thought though that there are plenty of meditation / guided imagery / affirmation CD's out there. But then again, that could just be my own insecurity preventing me from actually moving forward....

Kalo, For me, my voice was too distracting. The version I uploaded is not subliminal and simply generated by a freeware program. It is somehow robotic but completely neutral which I think works pretty well. |

Dr.Zafirides, I created many versions of affirmation MP3s. I had versions with waves, rain, binaural etc... At the end of the day, I think that affirmations spaced by 10 seconds without background music or sound works best. |

what is so disturbing about your voice Kalo? I need you to love yourself and everything about yourself. Use your affirmations to be directed toward this. You missed one more thing. Use the affirmations on an as needed basis as well. You cant carry a recorder where ever you go, but you can always have yourself to repeat the statements. |

Hi ACE1,
I guess, when someone listens to their voice, it kind of sounds wierd.
I have an Ipod touch and I have all my Subiminal stuff on there...
But, I hear ya, one doesn't need a pre recording...I just have to get into the habit of doing them daily when needed...

Alix, thanks a million. I wanted to have Ace's keys on tape so I can listen to them. I am sure to get great benefit from it. I much prefer not to have it in my own voice.
You know what is interesting. A lot of people find the sounds of the ocean relaxing. Now, since I have the ocean right out my bedroom window, I don't find it relaxing, don't usually hear it at all. I have to be IN the ocean swimming to really enjoy it. I guess I don't appreciate what I have available all the time. |

There is a guy called Harry Henshaw on Youtube who has a bunch of videos with relaxing music and some affirmations. Pretty good stuff for sleeping to. I use one specific one to fall asleep at night. (No affirmations, in that particular one.) If anyone is interested, YouTube it.
Dr. Z,
You should create some of those recordings. I think your insight might lead to an interesting take on it all. |
