Close to 4 months after hearing about TMS, I thought of giving an update from my side.

- Able to walk in 3-4 miles in treadmill without any knee pain.
- Wrist pain and numbness almost gone.
- Pelvic pain is missing most of the time.
- Rarely taking sleeping pills. Getting nice sleep.
- No IBS.
- Rare tension headaches.
- No knee brace, back support belt, donut cushion, kinesiology tapes, crib bandage, etc.

What I tried:
- Besides reading Dr. Sarno's books, every day I read posts from experts in this forum.
- Getting up very early in the morning, keeping myself busy, and not sitting in the bed trying to identify the root cause of my pain.
- Whenever the pain is about to show up, I will instantly remember the statements posted by experts in this forum, and rebuke them immediately.

Other than doing this, I never try anything else like writing journal, NET, etc.

As I still need to overcome the following, I may have to wait for some more time to post a real success story.

These are the challenges I still need to overcome:
1. Mild sensitivity/tenderness in pelvis - fear to touch.
2. Fear for work/life challenges.
3. Lethargy.

Men having pelvic pain is horrible. I want to specially thank experts like Dave, Andy, Tennis Tom, and others for your great posts. I'm really recuperating well. I'm sure you feel happy for my recovery.

Racer, thanks for posting. I have some of the same issues. Your analysis of the strategy you used to heal helped me a lot, as have most of the posts on this forum. I am having very little pain now, but do not want to declare myself healed because I have had cures and relapses before. I am really grateful for all of the caring people on this forum.

Sounds like you're very close to a success story. Congrats!

Racer, I'd love to know what you think the key element in you healing was. If you just had to pick one overall element, what do you think it has been? (Realizing that it is complex, but just curious.)

I believed 100% on what I have is TMS, mostly not giving attention to it, saying myself the pain is benign. I keep telling my subconscious mind that I truly understand its rage, and explore the possible alternative avenues do deal with. Getting into the emotions, I also tell my subconscious mind, asking to look back at the damages it had done to my body, making it to realize the negative consequences it had caused in life.

I'm also doing meditation and minimal yoga and stretches.

I still have some more challenges I missed adding to my 1st post in this topic.

- Some times there tendency to double check by touching the places where there the pain is gone or subsided, and see if there is any tenderness to touch. I know it is a big mistake. May be I should practice more to keep telling it is TMS and avoid skepticism.

- Social Withdrawal due to pain all these days. I gradually stopped talking with friends, etc and gradually withdrew myself from socializing. Other than my immediate family, I hardly interact with others. Socializing again will be a challenge.

I think you'll find socialization to be a big help to your healing. You're farther than me in the process, but I was forced for a number of reasons (my job etc.) to stay social. I believe it's absolutely helped me beat my condition.

Excellent post, Racer. Plenty to learn from it. Going to read it a few more times. Appreciate your time and effort sharing it!

Back after while to give a quick update.

Not much pain. Even if the pain pops up once in a while, I just try to distract focusing elsewhere.

I can also see significant "internal" improvements.

I still have the challenge of handling night mares.

Racer,

I have nightmares too. I'd bet all of us here have more than normal. Sleep disturbances are the first sign of elevated stress, they say. I've been working hard on my stress reduction (mental) techniques right before sleep. Believe it or not, I'm starting to feel my mind start to counteract some of the stress IN the dream and ern wake up from it in a more accepting way. You might try moving some of your work to just before bed?
I'm any case, I suspect your overall level of calming will eliminate them for the mos part soon enough.

Encouraging posts. Thanks.
