I have a question for you all.
Currently, the pain I am having is located on the top of my foot/ankle. This area is extremely sensitive and things that cause no problem with a normal foot hurt. I am wearing the softest shoes I have (sneakers) every day, and yet my foot becomes more and more tender and uncomfortable as the day wears on.
I believe there are three reasons for this:
1-The nerves in my foot are stuck in a fear-adrenalin-fear loop. I have been using Claire Weekes' therapy to get myself out of it, which is working, though very slowly. 2- I am not as in touch with my emotions as I could be (I am working with a therapist on this). 3- I have become conditioned to certain situations (such as, wearing shoes) so that I anticipate the pain.
Although as I said I am working the TMS program, it gives me enormous relief to take off my shoes during the day for a 45-minute stretch (I am a teacher so my day is measured in 45-minute stretches). Then when I put them back on the discomfort has significantly reduced which makes it easier to go on.
I have been waiting till 10th period (3pm) to do this, but I have a free period earlier (at 12noon) and sometimes I am sorely tempted to take them off at that point, too.
Do you think I should? Or should I continue to "float" through the pain. |
