Hi Gang,
Don't stop by much anymore and likely won't much in the future. It's just time to move on. I've gotten a great deal from this forum and have tried to give some of that back. Hope I've helped a few, both with direct advice after my years of dealing with TMS issues, and by sharing my own struggles and confusion.
This is what I want to say;
1: If you've found your way here, it's overwhelmingly likely that you're fundamental problem is TMS. Almost no one gets here in error.
2: Your focus should not be on the most natural and understandable question there is for people in our situation, the one we see over and over again, ad infinitum on the forum. "Is my pain physical/structural in nature, or is it TMS?"
3: INstead your focus should be On reducing/eliminating fear and stress...both generally, and with respect to your specific symptom(s.) You should strive for genuine acceptance of your pain at all times. If you do this, I can virtually guarantee your pain will be lessened/eliminated if it's psychsomatic. IN other words, the problem of whether something's TMS or not takes care of itself... if you stop worrying about it.
4: This is why we need to continue to remind ourselves that worrying and fretting over whether something is "real" or not, only increases stress and fear. Hence, it's not only unproductive it's damaging.
5: Fear and stress are at the root of your pain. If you want to truly heal, you must change. You must become a more accepting, peaceful, forgiving person. You must learn to take the larger view, especially with respect to your proper place in the universe. We are all one of many, and I can guarantee that others are suffering more deeply than we are.
6; Always remember 2 basic things... A: Life is difficult. B: Life ends in death.
We remember these things, not to be morbid or negative, but quite the opposite. When we truly accept life's harsh realities, they become much easier to bear. It's only by accepting these things that we can become truly free.
7. It's by giving that we receive. Be open.Be loving. Be as fearless as you can. Once again, remember you are dying. Time is precious. And so are you..
Peace to all Art |

Hi Art,
I’m here to hang with the gang a while longer. It’s a good place for me to be with new posters and inputs daily. Thanks for your profound summing up, I read it well, especially the finality comments. Good luck with the poker games, please don’t lose!

art,
I know you not but I like what you say. I shall save your sage words to hold close while the healing storms pass. I have a huge regard for the warm thoughts of those further along the road than I.
Idle thought but would you consider re-posting this in Success Stories? I fear the gains may drown in generality if left here.
Best wishes to you. |

I am a bit surprised to hear you say it but I agree:
"You should strive for genuine acceptance of your pain at all times."
Thanks, Art.
