You watch TV and see '50 first dates' come by. You decide to watch it, although you have already seen it 3 times, but you still have to laugh aloud when Drew Barrymore is (by mistake) hitting the sh!t out of Rob Schneider with a baseball bat. (I recommend the movie, as well as 'Happy Gilmore', two of Adam Sandlers best feel-good-comedy-movies, before his movies got somewhat annoying)

ah, is this not happiness..

You find out that the next movie on is There's something about Mary and you again laugh aloud when Matt Dillon applies CPR on Magda's dog and accidentally sets it on fire.

ah, is this not happiness..

Loosing 12-21, 10-21 in a pingpong match from a 70 year old guy, but you don't care because it is the first time in 3 months that you dared to play again... guess what, no serious pain...

Long, long soak in a hot, hot bath while reading crime fiction before an early night (and long, long lie-in morning time).

Although Plum is not here for a while, I will keep posting here in honor of her kind spirit and because it pushes me to commemorate those little moments of happiness in life that might seem unimportant but really aren't. I hope some of you can fill in for her or just join in for their own benefit.

You just processed half a year of mail, bills and whatsnot and decide to cook an extensive meal to celebrate.

ah, is this not happiness...

THANKS, gigalos! (wow I'd sure like to get my own mail / bills / whatsnot processed! Congrats!!)

I miss Plum already too, and I'm glad you're planning to continue to post on this thread ... I like the idea of "commemorating those little moments of happiness in life .... "

Here's one from yesterday:

Reading a new book and feeling totally VINDICATED (by research) in what I have believed*, but had been unable to articulate (even the concept), myself.

AHHHH is this not happiness !!
----------

Perhaps a little relevant to this board: the concept was that just AFFIRMING in a cognitive sort of way without an accompanying feeling might actually be harmful. Research showed that even if a person can verbally express positivity or benefits, it only shows up physically in their cortisol (stress) levels, if they also FEEL it, in a heartfelt way. THINKING positive was not enough. The scientific study cited was "Benefit finding and diurnal corisol slope in maternal caregivers: A moderating role for positive emotions" in Fredrickson's book, "Positivity."

You told your boss rightaway how you felt about a certain task instead of letting it simmer for a couple of days.

speaking is silver, silence is... a breeding ground for tms...

You are the last one at the office and find the last piece of your favourite pie in the fridge. Although you already had one, you decide to eat it to prevent it from expiring.

You discover nature in your cupboard in the form of an empty bag of nuts and mouse droppings. You finally realize what the crackling sound was that you heard once and a while that week. Those clever b@st@rds... You smile when you think about the food feast the family of mice is having behind the wall, but decide to serve them a dessert by filling the empty bag with pink seeds from the local DIY shop...

You discover the mice ate the whole bag of pink seeds that night...

I usually don't use capitals, but I feel it is necessary here.

PLEASE PEOPLE, DISCUSSING TMS/MBS IN DEPTH IS VERY INTERESTING AND USEFUL, BUT DON'T FORGET THAT FOCUSSING ON THE SIMPLE THINGS IN LIFE THAT MAKE YOU HAPPY IS JUST AS IMPORTANT!!! LAY ASIDE THAT BOOK FOR A MOMENT, STOP WATCHING THAT VIDEO, STOP TYPING THAT PAGE LONG REPLY AND PUT TWO MINUTES OF EFFORT IN WRITING WHAT MADE YOU HAPPY THAT DAY. WHETHER IT'S SERIOUS, HILARIOUS, SPIRITUAL OR PHILOSOPHICAL; IT WILL PROBABLY PUT A SMILE ON YOUR FACE AND GIVE YOU ENERGY FOR THE REST OF THE DAY. EVEN BETTER, OTHER FORUM MEMBERS WILL BENEFIT FROM IT TOO.

thank you

Although zero members posted a happy moment, you discover this thread is viewed approx. 25 times a day... You're probably making some people happy so you decide to carry on

ah, is this not happiness...

After three days of grey weather you wake up and see a clear blue sky. It's the first time this year that the rays of sunlight carry enough energy to actually warm up your skin. It's clear to you now; SPRING HAS ARRIVED!! As if this isn't enough, the weather man predicts an even nicer day tomorrow.

It's 23:00 and your phone rings. It's your dear old mother who is concerned if anything is wrong with you. You say everything is fine and ask why she thinks that. She finally explains; "You haven't played Ruzzle with me for two days"...

Knowing that your friends here still think of you, care enough to send inspiring messages because they are wonderful people who remind you that your story is always unfolding and that to be alive in this moment is amazing.

You notice that despite the rough winter, the plants in your garden start to develop fresh green sprouts in the spring sunlight.

Discovering for the second time that RSR has no contact details and you relish her mystery even more than the first time...because she makes you want her.
