Met my neighbour. Have not seen her for months. Her legs suddenly became lame. Just realising what a gift good physical health (also good mental health of course) and being able to move around and be active is. |

A summer landscape Blue cloudless sky, yellow corn fields and soft green hills in the background on one side and glittering water with sailing ships on the other.

Profiting from an amateur cyclist riding in front of you on your way back home. ( I was about to write "breaking wind in front of you" but realized that this has an entirely different meaning in English than in Dutch.... )

Visiting your parents (who live on farmland), and finding that the farmers are baling hay. The gorgeous golden fields are being harvested and you sit in your car and watch a little blue tractor chug along and every now and then a bale is produced from the red thing at the back. There is an irreducible peace to this process and a not-so-small part of you could watch for hours.
The wheel of the year begins it's gradual motion towards Autumn.

Had a bunch of happy moments in my last week of vacation.. I can make a whole list, but I'll summarize it in a few words: friends, kids, beach, sun (sorry, I am a bit lazy this time :) )

I wonder what software that was...
For the first time seeing a fox chase rabbits 20-30 metres away from you. The fox wasn't successful by the way.

Seeing how glad and relieved our cat is when we enter the house after two days of absence. They say that only dogs can show how glad they are but a cat has her own (reluctant) way of showing it (so you are back, did you miss me?)

Going to my secret spot (which is no secret at all)to pick blackberries and finding out that 1. Nobody has been here yet and 2. the berries are huge and very ripe this year because of all the sun. Very good with pancakes (if they were not that fattening)

gigalos, the software I won was YNAB! (You Need a Budget www . ynab . com ). I hope that using it will reduce some of the chronic "background strain" in my life. I had been checking out various options (including "www . moneyminderonline . com" - developed by Karen McCall who wrote the book, Financial Recovery which I would recommend, but I had technical problems on my computer viewing her New User videos and there was no free trial that I could see.
Anyway, some more searching came up with YNAB and I decided to attend one of their free live webinars and they always give away a copy of the software to a lucky attendee and I was the lucky one that day! It is a most interesting and unique approach I thought. Does NOT require any "forecasting" or finding/ going back historical data .... just start from TODAY from where one is currently AT, budgeting with what one actually HAS on hand. They have a philosophy of "4 rules" that really make sense to me, including #3: "roll with the punches!" (ie adapt as life changes, and reconfigure one's budget on the fly accordingly).
I quite like their whole system and so far the software seems to be working fine ... will take a bit for me to get up to speed w/ it. If you wanted to try it out yourself there's a free 34-day trial and of course always a chance to WIN a copy! (or if anyone wants a $/off coupon just shoot me an email.)
A rather long answer to your short question, but I am *determined* to try to resolve this aspect of chronic stress/strain in my life!
AAAaaahhhh ... wouldn't THAT be happiness ! |

thanx for the explanation RSR :) Great resolution.
Today I went out for a ride on my bicycle and sat down on a bench under some trees watching the sun sink in the distance.

seeing the most amazing sunsets that this time of year has to offer.
noticing that one of your neighbours must have supported your 2,5m sunflower while you were away and all hell broke loose weather-wise.
discovering the best game you played in years (journey)

Rain is pouring against your windows, it's already dark outside, you listen to some lazy blues music and light some candles.

Dearest RSR,
I'm feeling very well and happy. How are you my love? I do think of you often.
Friendship, and the comfortable silences between expressions of care and sharing.
