I have been a journalist for a couple of decades and have reviewed hundreds of books. Last night I sat down with SteveO’s book on TMS and could not put it down....granted this is a review after only scanning through the book but I have no doubt it will be better than even my first impression.
Steve has a very easy and personable writing style, the book contains a wealth of hard core science and psychology without making the reading laborious. His tongue-in-cheek style makes learning even dry facts fun and he weaves his personal journey so well into the material you are convinced he knows his subject from the ground up.
I also like that he is not singularly cornered by the allopathic or metaphysical/alternative models and does an excellent job of showing the connections between all facets of cause and recovery..
I also like thought provoking quotes by famous people and Steve has peppered his book with them on almost every page. I know how hard it is to write a book and this work shows the extensive effort the author went to in its creation.
My only critique is that it is self published, and self published books do not enjoy the distribution or exposure a book does when published by a major publishing house.Steve......you need to get an agent and make this available to more suffering people.
If you are challenged by TMS (now PPD) read Sarno’s books – then move into other dimensions of understanding and healing with Steve’s book. While this might step on a few toes of the 6 TMS books I have read this is the one you need to keep foremost on your reading table.

I got to read some of it for free on TT's SteveO's gems post. Too bad he didn't update it often enough.

I agree. Steve's book really "hit it home" for me.

Couldn't agree more. Steve's book has been on my coffee table for the last 5 months, and after having read it through from cover to cover in a couple of weeks, I still find myself constantly dipping into it. |

Balto, time to get your wife to up your allowance so you can buy one of SteveO's books . I've been too busy using up my energies battling to keep authors like SteveO, and more recently Nicole Sachs, at the forum helping. If other's want to add quotes to the thread that would be great. I don't know how to copy or scan the nuggets of TMS wisdom doing it by hand, it's quite tedious. It's good to have some TMS "KNOWLEDGE PENICILLIN" to structure the dialog around so things don't get too psychobabbly.
Cheers, tt/lsmft |
