So people did not benefit from Dr. Schubiner - how about the programs of these other doctors.
How about Dr. Marc Sopher or Steven Ozanich |

My visit with Dr.Schechter was a disaster. It set me back big time. I felt rushed. I did not believe what he told me about my case based on body language. And at the end I felt coerced into buying his worksheets and videos so I was upset at myself for doing so (that people pleasing characteristic we all seem to display).
I read Dr.Brady's book and I really did not connect due to the religious undertone that taints his TMS perception (which he renames AOS. Why?). |

I would say I benefitted from Dr Brady's book. One thing I like about his program is that he sets a specific timeline for improvement ... if it doesn't work, you'll have a better idea of what fits / doesn't fit for you and can move on.
I don't believe there is a 'one-size-fits-all' approach .. and even if a particular approach was PROVEN to work 99.9% of the time, we can always be in that .01 percent, so we have to find what works for us as the INDIVIDUALS that we are.

| I certainly would start by listening to the free 5-hour TMS seminar Dr.James Alexander has posted on his own website. It is a great usable and practical source of TMS information. |

| I saw Dr. Schubiner...he helped me a lot. I have e-mailed him several times since then and he is always quick to respond. I also read Dr. Brady's book. I thought it was helpful, mainly because of the element of compassion that came through. I also read SteveO's book...masterfully written. This was the turning point for me, I think. I read it before I saw Dr. Schubiner. I think Dr. Schubiner just helped hammer that nail of "you are fine" all the way in!!! |

| Dr. Marc Sopher's book is a breezy read but does not go into much depth. Send me an e-mail and I will send it to you. Steven Ozanich's book, on the other hand, has a ton of information and you are sure to find much value in it. I have also read Dr. Brady's book which is well written and researched. Perhaps you will find benefit in his words also. |

| Listen, 25% of my family ended up at Auschwitz because they belonged to the wrong religion. I just have no need for somebody that uses TMS to proselytize. Rage? probably. It felt good doing it. |

| When I first joined the forum, I began with Ace's Keys, not really expecting much at first. They helped me tremendously and got me over a good deal of my pain. The only books about TMS that I had read at that point were Dr. Sarno's "Healing Back Pain" and "The Mind/Body Syndrome". However, I had recently read some books on new developments in Neuroscience and how it relates to mental health like "How God Changes Your Brain" by Andrew Weinberg. I selected 3 more books to order based on reviews on this forum and also on what I felt could help my particular case. Those were "Back in Control" by Dr. David Hanscom", "The Hidden Psychology of Pain" by Dr. James Alexander and "The Great Pain Deception" by Steve O. So far I have completed the first 2 and soon will be starting Steve O's book. Both helped me a lot. I don't always have to agree with everything I read in a book, I just take what is useful to me and leave the rest. I don't let my reading become another source of aggravation and resistance. Dr. Hanscom's book was great on the physiology of pain and back and leg pain was my biggest problem at the time. From this book I was able to determine that my pain was mostly TMS, it removed all my doubts.It really helped that Dr Hanscom is an Orthopedic Surgeon. I thought the psychology was weak and all about CBT, but I did expect that. I really loved Dr. Alexander's book because I thought it really addressed the subject well using an interdisciplinary approach that was very well done. That book is almost a work of art. I could probably have read 20 other books and not obtained as much good information and different treatment options. I really liked the selflessness and genuine quality. It was not a lead in to sell you other stuff and did not withhold information. It is chock full of self help approaches. Alix did a good review on this forum. I am expecting to really like Steve's O's book too. |

I purchased and have listened to Dr. Schechter's 3 CD audio program, and throughout he continually mentioned how "cost effective" his treatment program is compared to traditional medical options. It seemed to me that he was trying to promote his treatment program to insurance companies. |

When I was ill, the only choice I have is doctor Sarno's book and later, doctor Claire Weekes's. Now people have so many choices, so many programs, theories, books... on mindbody illnesses.
Not sure if this is a good thing or not.
Life is much simpler back then.

Dr Schubiner's videos, link below. His book was very helpful, but I couldn't bring myself to do the exercises. I think it would be easier to do them in a class room or controlled setting. Or I am such a perfectionist I did not want to deface the pages. Or was I just lazy?
