I know a lot of you talk about ignoring the symptoms, repudiating the diagnosis of a physical issue. I struggle a lot with the stomach stuff as I said, and I wake every single morning with a mild headache and cramps from trapped gas and it makes it a BEAR to wake up.

Do any of you have any strategies, other than WILLING yourself out of bed every morning to combat this? And did it get better?

Do you have IBS - gastric problem accompanied by constipation?
Obviously, all of us know stress and anxiety plays a great role affecting the bowel movement, and lack of fluid in the body may be the reason.

I had the same symptoms in the past and got rid of it totally. I got rid of it taking 1 gallon/3.78 liters of water in regular intervals through out the day. No gastric problem, no constipation. Water plays a great role in cleansing the toxic from the body as well. You may give a try.

Yes, I have had what they call "IBS" since I was 9 (I am 28 now) I have been drinking a gallon or more of water since the new year and it helps. However, I have also been taking in copious amounts of fruits and veggies and no meat, or dairy to help my system. I am thinking the extra fiber is wreaking havoc on my system as for IBS people Fiber isn't great. However, believing its stress/anxiety/TMS I need to just ignore and move on. I am conditioned to feel this way every morning. But it is deep cramps and a TON of gas pressure built up. My system holds liters of gas in it. I had to go to the hospital last year and get an NG tube down my throat to release the gas bubble that was completely blocking my system it took 18 hours to get rid of it all. That is the only time in years Ive had NO gas in my system. It's all really frustrating. Causes bloat, and indigestion, oh and I also can't burp so that doesn't help. I live with it day in an day out and only on certain days does it really get to me but it never goes away. Every test ever comes back "normal" but its not and its terrible to live with.

My dear mother has these stomach problems also which she describes as very painful attacks. She has been examined over and over but nothing has been found. She too drinks a lot of water and avoids certain foods in order to avert an attack, but I feel she has TMS. I agree with you, however, that is it very difficult to ignore the symptoms and repudiate the diagnosis of a physical cause of the symptoms, especially when they are so intense. I think, however, that avoiding certain foods and drinking a lot of water with a view to averting an attack perpetuates that fear because you are telling yourself that there is a physical cause behind your symptoms. Remember, TMS symptoms can be very painful to the point that the rational mind has a difficult time embracing the idea of stress or other hidden emotions being the utlimate cause behind the symptoms.

I do trust you have had a full physical examination of your condition to rule out anything of a serious nature. It is well recognized even in the mainstream medical establishment that stocmach complaints are generally related to stress, so you might want to investigate that in your life.

I went through the same ordeal. Several endoscopy, colonoscopy (painful) procedures revealed nothing. I know how miserable it is to deal with IBS.

I guess the stress and tension is stopping the bowel movement, and the catastrophic thinking secrets more acid in the bowel causing the bloating of stomach.

I stopped taking oats, and some cereals (though they seem to be rich in fiber) in the morning which absorbs water content.

I also practice getting up very early in the morning and make myself busy. By doing this, I don't sit in the bed and distract my mind from worries and catastrophic thinking. I realized this early morning thinking makes the whole day miserable.

Whoaday:
I'd stay away from fiber as it is indigestible and recommend a high fat diet.
Good Luck

You've probably heard this endlessly but have you looked into a quality probiotic like VSL?
Not cheap, but the VSL was the one that did NOT upset my stomach, and I do think it helped my symptoms. (IBS/anxiety related stomach issues.)

I also second the water.

I also second avoiding oats. (Odd, but that causes me a lot of bloating as well.)

Stress is a killer for IBS, though. Anxiety draws blood away from the stomach so digestion is absolutely impaired. Bringing down stress, losing fear of the symptoms and doing your best to float through it is paramount. I know how hard it is. I've had all the symptoms you're talking about.
