I have been dealing with funky symptoms with no evidence of anything turning up from neuros to rheumys. I was told fibro but I believe that is a result of mental distress so i wasn't amazed by the diagnosis. I have had slight back pain throughout the whole time but it's been off and on and a leg thats consistently felt kinda weak and shaky. My other SX have been twitching and jaw tightness, facial tightness. I recently have been having paresthesia in my feet and legs that comes and goes. Can TMS do this?
It's been almost 2.5 years and I still don't have answers but I admit I quit seeing a doc at a little over 1.5 years.
Do I sound like anyone else's experiences? has anyone else had tms cause numbness? Any feedback would be awesome. Thanks and happy new year

have you read sarnos book-healing back pain-and did you see yourself there?
have you heard of steve ozanich if not his book is great
and we have great post on healing
ace1-keys to healing and gems from steveo by tennis tom
see its not should i do this or not
tms healing is about living life to the full ok
and if you didnt like your last dr
you will need to get another check up since its been a while
you have to see -you can heal here-
but never stop getting check ups or exams
we just learn in time that the drs are not always correct in fact
we can still practice tms healing if we see a dr or not
its the doubt you might get from a dr -the fear that we warn against
and the mis-diagnosis when it comes to back issues and other issues
again the main point is-start your journey now-if you feel like this might be you -well it probably is-
i see tms healing as a completeness
ive been healed of intense back pain and so much more
i had to learn tho-its about getting your mind under control

thanks for the response. I haven't seen a doctor in about 9 months because on my last visit my neurologist told me "I really didn't need to see him for this anymore". He wasn't mean he was just straight forward. He's probably the best we have in our city and I like him.

I was mainly just wondering if its common for tms sufferers to experience tingling, numbness and weak feelings too. My back pain has never been off the charts and never really had shooting sciatica type pain but my right leg does feel tight and shaky with tingling and numbness that comes and goes.

germn, see my post on numbness. Yes, it's common when a nerve is compressed a bit, I have had tingling feet like you describe with back pain, it always goes away. People get tingling hands, especially violinists, coming from the nerves in the neck that run down arm.

You ask is this caused by TMS. Nobody can know for sure but TMS can cause so much as you can see from this board. Good that you got checked out and as long as the doctor told you the signs to watch out for, things that signal a problem, I wouldn't worry.

My doc knows I'm a paramedic so our dialoge is different and often abridged. I have bulging L-4 thru S1( both around 3-4mm). I have another c5 herniation but was told all are mild and said they shouldn't even cause symptoms.
I have been seeing a specialist of some kind for almost 5 years. I noticed intermitent back pain and paresthesias( body wide) around 2 years prior to that. 4-5 years of this and all I've gotten is " there's nothing else we can check, it's fibro."

All I know is I've suffered from intense anxiety for around 13 years. Pain (which is my least common complaint) and tingling aren't my only issues. I have muscle twitches, tightness and shakiness. I get TMJ and swallowing feels weird, joint pain, etc...

It's sucked, especially early on when a GP mentioned ruling out ALS. I've never been able to totally shake that fear. I read that another person on this forum went through a similar scare. Talking to people who have " been there and done it" helps me a lot.

germn, Sarno sees fibro as TMS. I can't tell you how many times I have had incidents that I know were TMS when I was diagnosed with fibro in 1996. I saw a rheumatologist and cried my eyes out, thinking I was destined for a life in a wheelchair.

When I started reading Sarno, I looked back at a diary I kept as a small child. Reeks of TMS. I have brought the diary to therapists, nobody really figured it out but I see a connection. I had fibro so bad that the simple act of taking off a t shirt, crossing arms, which we don't even think about...caused me intense pain in my arms. I did research for my rheumatologist, read books from the 1800s and even 1700s. They called it the "movable disease". The pain left my arms and went to my legs, then my ribs...costochondritis so painful that I couldn't stand up straight. This is when my father was hospitalized and I thought he was going to die. No shrink needed to see the connection.

Look at Sarno's books, Steve O's book and the others...how the pain leaves one area and goes to the next.

The day I dumped my ex is the day the pain went away. After years...I am not kidding.

I have TMJ and have had panic attacks since age 10. I hope you stick around and read the posts and you will see that what they call a "fibro personality" IS the same type of personality you will see here as far as characteristics. I would say that most of the people here have a higher level of anxiety than the general population and a good deal of health anxiety. How can we not when we turn our fears into body focus.

You read my numbness post. So far this week, I have had MS and ALS. I can laugh about it now but when we are in the throws of fear, it's not funny. There is a joke about a hypochondriac who has his tombstone inscribed "I Told You So".

Re: your MRI, I have the same findings. My doctor says if you are to do an MRI on anyone over 40, you're going to find L4, L5, etc. This is normal!

I hope you get Sarno's books and if you want to add one, please get Steve O's book, The Great Pain Deception. It's a gem.

Thanks for responding. The thing about your father really jumped out at me. My dad was diagnosed with a tumor at 29 y/o everyone prepared for him to die. I was around 7-8 and at the time I remember the only way I could deal with it was think to myself " okay at least i'm not dying". Well he made it and found out it was a benign tumor but it came back around every 4-7 years. He lived another 15 years with it and had multiple surgeries.
Until recently I never knew how much this affected me. I remember shortly after his first surgery I had extreme fear about things, recurrent nightmares and a very harsh standard for myself. I'm an extremely forgiving person but the only one that I don't let off the hook is me, I don't know how to.
My past and my anxiety issues have really robbed and devastated my life.

You would think I would have turned out some basket case the way I am speaking about myself but I am a fireman who owns his own construction company and I am very driven and financially & socially successful.
The other thing that stood out to me is that I have a miserable marriage. My wife was very abused and she is extremely rough to live with. Our relationship is very toxic for me and she is incredibly demanding, insecure and abusive. I've often wondered if that could be a point of the problem.
