My dental cleaning appointment went a little better than I thought it would even though I was told that I need to see the periodontist about this problem area. But when I said I'd like to see how it goes until my next 3 mon. appointment the dentist said okay. This gives me more time to work on this TMS symptom. In the past with other dentists or doctors I've been told it's their way or the highway. I like where I am now.

Now about being in a TMS pain creating situation without an easy resolution. Yes, it does help to know where the symptoms are originating from. I have been feeling overwhelmed by my frustration and anger towards a particular family member and I think this has caused my recent bout with this gum problem and other old symptoms trying to flare up again. But it's not just the repressed anger, etc. I realize now that's getting to me. Sometimes I feel conflicted about my feelings toward this person. I know I'm right to feel the way I do but I still (some where in my mind) think that maybe it could get better. I realize now that I've been experiencing emotional conflict for a long long time about this person. This is an emotion that I don't remember Dr. Sarno writting about. Could a confliction of the emotions cause a TMS symptom? I think I just asked a really dumb question.

It would be nice to be able to be a type of Gandhi for a few days so I could see what it's like to really forgive and be passive. I wonder how much TMS he suffered from?!

I've thought about learning to meditate and I need to have more fun and good things going on to balance things out. So I tried Gangnam style dancing and cracked myself up. And tomorrow I start a new painting of a beautiful animal so I'm looking forward to that.

Maccafan:
To take things a bit out of context you said:
“I have been feeling overwhelmed by … anger towards a particular family member and … I know I'm right to feel the way I do”
Who is speaking when you said the last part? Is that you or some prideful old fool? If this anger is causing you pain can it be right?
Have you ever tried sketching in a zoo? Have you ever wondered how Remington learned to draw horses?
I keep learning things in this forum. I always thought that gum disease was caused by not brushing well or galloping diabetes.

Hi Peregrinus,

Who you calling old, fool? I'm sorta old but it happens to the best of us. No, I don't sketch at zoos. No, I've never wondered how Remington learned to draw horses. And I haven't had a cavity in years and years because I brush and FLOSS every time I eat something. And I'm still wondering what you have against sap green?!

Beegeesus, is this a tiff between fellow artists? I'm wondering about the Sap green now? Is that like the leaded red they did away with that made artists so...artistic? Please have some more of the hi-test fortified eggnog and feel free to go at it. We need some relief from all the ache and pain talk, it is the holidaze.

Cheers, let it all hang out!

Good Morning Major Tom,

Gotta say I laughed when I read your post. And it's good to laugh. I don't know what's with Peregrinus. I've read some of his other posts and I think he means well but comes across kinda uptight. When I see his name on my thread I think ..uh oh.. here come da judge.

Sap green is a very nice color, good for landscape painting and good for mixing with other colors to make shadows in portrait paintings. I even use water mixable oils and do not use turpentine anymore. No more fumes or excuses for being "artistic"! I guess "P" is really gonna sock it to me now!

Mccafran:
You are more than a little sensitive! I said “Is that you or some prideful old fool?”. This implies that I do not think you are a “prideful old fool”. Instead I was suggesting that your anger could be caused by your acting that way.
I’ve been an active artist for many years and I am constantly meeting other artists and talking about art to them. I have found that photo copyists are a prickly sort. They needn’t be that way since many respected artists drew from photographs: I mention the great Thomas Eakins for one. I mentioned Remington because I think he may be the best American equine artist and as far as I know he worked from life which is pretty hard to do when you are drawing a running horse.

Peruginus,

I've already thought about what you wrote, not the old part but how foolish am I being. This is part of my conflicted emotions. And all of us are more than a little sensitive or we wouldn't be on this forum. Are you an old art snob or just acting like one? I'm off to my easel now to copy my photo of a beautiful animal. I hope you have a nice day too.
