I want to deal with my anger issues once and for all. Being such a "nice, good"person all these years has really messed me up. Any suggestions on the best way to get out past aggressions and deal with current ones? I journal, that helps, but I still feel a lot inside.
Thanks for any input,
Layla

That all depends on what the anger is.

When it is something that can't be dealt with, like say...telling your boss to F off and that he/she is an egomaniacal shortsighted pedagogue,I always recomend a good old fashioned Gestalt like acid laced tirade at say....a chair .
Be sure to go into great detail and discuss the problem as if they were there and you would suffer no repercussions for your candor.Any feelings of self consciousness or reservation will dilute the power of these experiences,so make sure you are somewhere where you feel totally safe.

That's one way...there are many others.

Layla- It's probably just your foolish pride! And you should apologize to Eric Clapton for turning his whole world upside down.

What’ll you do when you get lonely
No one waiting by your side?
You’ve been running and hiding much too long.
You know it’s just your foolish pride.

Layla, you’ve got me on my knees.
Layla, I’m begging, darling please.
Layla, darling won’t you ease my worried mind.

I tried to give you consolation
When your old man had let you down.
Like a fool, I fell in love with you,
Turned my whole world upside down.

Chorus

Let’s make the best of the situation
Before I finally go insane.
Please don’t say we’ll never find a way
And tell me all my love’s in vain.

Just kidding. You're on the right track in that you recognize that you have a "reservoir of rage." I guess what has worked best for me is not venting and yelling, but awareness- recognizing the traps you set for yourself by trying to always please people and be such a "nice, good" person. It's a built-in anger generator, because, subconsciously, you always expect to be recognized for your efforts. Anything less makes you angry. Just know that- understand it. Laugh about it. Realize that it's just the way your are. You like to try to do good. But try not to expect anything for it. It's just who you are.
