Hi Baseball65,
Slow day on the board. Must be ski week. NorCal has cleared out. The freeways are actually useable for their intended purpose, speedy transportation from point A to B. It won't last for long though. CA would probably be livable again with about half it's population--could probably even find a parking place again. Can't say you didn't do your part by moving to Nashvile, but it's a shame loseing the good ones. All the true SF'ers have moved to the suburbs. The only ones left here are yuppies, homeless and tourists. The crooked politcians from the East Coast have taken over the government here, are quickly turning it into Manhattan West. They remodeled once lovely, Union Square Park, into a concrete and steel monstrosity, and are building a skyscraper museum in Golden Gate Park. Limousine liberals cramming the serfs into cockroach infested public transportation. Instead of building more roads and parking lots, they get rid of them. Turn traffic lanes into bikes paths, that no bicyclists ever use. The social planners like the Amsterdam model, bicycles, pot, and needle exchange. But this ain't Amsterdam, more like Disneyland with real bullets.
What do you think about the Academy Awards? Seen any good movies lately? I saw Aviator and Sideways. Both good flicks I thought. Sideways was real well written but pretty depressing form a male point of view. Women are all angels and men are all a-holes. Would like an autographed copy of your book someday, but I'll pay for it. We could put it into the TMS Links and Materials. Are you still working with the old mean boss? How goes it? Any insider info on the Academies?
Best wishes, tt |

Hi Tom.
Ahhh... California..what a great Idea!
If only the idea was in sync with the practice of being a californian.
Right before I moved,I followed the story of the "Valencia Gateway" project. For years, the Newhall Land and Ranch co. was pestering the LA city council for a variance to build 26,000 new homes on this large Piece of otherwise useless land, right where the 126 meets the 5. This land is desert...stone cold scenicless, arid useless desert. If the Variance was granted the value of the total project was north of 10,400,000,000 (that's 10.4 Billion dollars...and that's not including the commercial addendums)
The LA city council repeatedly voted down the variance(the land was not zoned{for obvious reasons} for residential property).
They finally installed a new council person with generous campaign contributions and got their approval and variance.Within 2 weeks, the whole project was sold to East coast investors.....guys who won't have to suffer the 40,000 estimated cars ADDED to the 405 and 5 FWYS during rush hour.
So a few rich people can get richer, the quality of life for all So. Cal-ers will be compromised.....aaaaaahhhh
Here I drive 40 to 70 miles a day and it doesn't seem like anything.I'm driving 72 miles round trip to a Baseball tryout this afternoon and it's no big deal....in LA I'd have to leave 3 hours early.
I used to get to watch all the nominated movies,as my good buddies Mom was an academy member...she'd get them all on video and give them to us to watch. This year,I only saw a handful of the nominated films. It is too hard to judge when you haven't seen them all. Jack Valenti (Head of the Motion Picture) has now cut down the free screeners,so fewer and fewer people get to see the smaller films....he did this at the request of the bigger studios who were tired of being beaten by the smaller production Co.s(can you say Co-rupt-shun ?)
I'll give you a free copy of the book, since you were the final straw that encouraged me to write it....I'll tell you up front,It's like fight club meets Requiem for a dream....I've been writing a tru account of all that stuff I put up and I forgot how very violent and drug infested the first 25 years of my life were. Nowadays if 2 kids fight, the parents bring in attorneys and psychologists....I fought almost every DAY from age 10 to age 16...and than guns and real terror put an end to fist fights.
The Louise Hay stuff has been reeeeeeally helpful. No more western meditations.I felt a sinus cold coming on this weekend and "Hayed" it away....I have not had a true illness since Texasrunner brought up the throat/ear deal.....outstanding for me.My whole family is getting into it.....we're raising 2 TMS blackbelts!!
Even my wifes sciatica has gone away....a collective healing....freakn' miracle
I've been using the Hay approach to work, and have gone from a low grade dread to a spirit of learning....Facing my OWN arrogance, self righteousness and know-it-all-ism.
My relationship with my sons has improved by me seeing myself reflected in the pedagoguery of my boss.I've opened up and apologized for some attitudes I had toward my boys that had become invisible......everyday is a new adventure and I've discovered something i never thought I could....compassion for my Bosses loneliness, frustration and blindness....I truly feel bad that such terrible things could strip all the reality and life out of him.I try to be an example without being a martyr.
Good to hear from you! I assume the boards been dead because everybody is getting better!!
K.I.T.
peace

Baseball,
I see you mentioned Valencia and Newhall in your post. Did you live in the Santa Clarita Valley? I live in Valencia. We moved to California in 1984, from Michigan. We were young and had just gotten engaged so we didn't have a lot of money. My husband's parents lived in Brentwood and we couldn't afford that so we moved to West Hollyweird, and weird it was, especially for someone coming here from the midwest. When we wanted to start a family, we moved to Valencia. It reminded me of where we grew up in the suburbs of Detroit, very family oriented.
Keep us posted about your book. I too would love to purchase a copy. I always enjoy your posts. Take care!
