In the Sunday Times Style Magazine there is a question and answers page titled 'Whats the Alternative'
Today there was a letter asking about back pain. The first part of the answer was recommending an osteopath the second part I thought was interesting - quote

Hypnotherapy is another technique you should consider. Charles Montagu is the co-founder of the Health Partnership (020 7589 6414)an intergrated holistic and medical clinic in London, and the first trained hypnotherapist to be funded by the National Health Service.
According to him, pain is sometimes an expression of emotional trauma, and hypnotherapy is the quickest way to access that often subconscious memory, deal with its legacy and move on.
In a recent article on the subject, Montagu quotes William Osler, the physician who is often described as the father of psychosomatic medicine, who said at the beginning of the last century -

"The hurt that does not find its expression through tears may cause other organs to weep"

This experience has given me a much better understanding of how debilitating it is to live with chronic pain and how depression is almost inevitable for those whose discomfort continues for more than a few weeks - not only back pain sufferers, but those with exhausting disorders such as chronic fatigue or fibromyalgia. It really is crucial to get to the root cause of the problem.

Her name is Susan Clark and she has a website www.whatreallyworks.co.uk
I might have a look at it and e-mail her information on Sarno.
