P.75 bottom: (caps are mine, no offense):

"GOOD HEALTH OR BAD HEALTH IS CONTINGENT UPON BELIEFS. BUT NECESSARY CHANGES DON'T ALWAYS COME EASILY, DUE TO FALSE CONDITIONING AND SOCIETAL NORMS. CHANGE OFTEN OCCURS SLOWLY, AND PEOPLE WHO TRY TO UNDERSTAND AND BELIEVE IN THE MINDBODY PROCESS OFTEN PICK AND CHOOSE WHAT THEY WANT REGARDING THE NEEDED CHANGES, BUT BELIEF IS AN ALL-OR- NOTHING POLICY. IT'S LIKE BEING KINDA PREGNANT. BELIEF DOESN'T WORK UNLESS YOU HAND YOUR ENTIRE SELF OVER TO IT. YES, PAIN CAN REOCCUR AFTER HAVING BEEN HEALED FROM TMS USING DR. SARNO'S "CURE." THIS ONLY CONFIRMS AS HE INDICATED, THAT WE ALL HARBOR ANGER AS EMOTIONAL BEINGS.

Since this bears repeating, I've redone it without the caps so as not to exacerbate anyone's TMS tension.

page.75 bottom:

"good health or bad health is contingent upon beliefs. but necessary changes don't always come easily, due to false conditioning and societal norms. change often occurs slowly, and people who try to understand and believe in the mindbody process often pick and choose what they want regarding the needed changes, but belief is an all-or-nothing policy. it's like being kinda pregnant. belief doesn't work unless you hand your entire self over to it. yes, pain can reoccur after having been healed from TMS using Dr. Sarno's "cure". this only confirms as he indicated, that we all harbor anger as emotional beings.

Tom, you're such a goodist

But good words, indeed. I may have to read that book again. I just have a hard time reading books more than once...which is not true for watching shows and movies for some reason...

Full belief is the most important factor in healing. Nothing else comes close in importance. It's often referred to as "acceptance."

Although fear must be drawn down gradually, you cannot lose fear without belief. You can't go from fearing you have something physically wrong with you, to losing your fear, unless your belief changed from believing you were hurting yourself to now believing you are not hurting yourself.

Anytime your personal paradigm morphs into something new, your belief system has changed.
