Hi guys,
I have been back to running longer distances in the past month, up to 7 milers so far. I notice that I get a clicking in my right knee sometimes. It doesn't hurt, but it is annoying. Can this be a TMS equivalent? I've had this off and on for years but never gave much attention to it because it doesn't really hurt. And afterwards for the rest of the day my knee feels and acts fine, no clicking. What do you guys think? I am NOT about to stop running, but it would be nice to know if anybody else noticed this when they run and if it has finally given up the ghost and quit at some point. I am sooo happy to be back training for races again. Like I said, I am not about to give up running...
Thx guys,

Clicking per se would not be TMS. But (speaking in general terms) clicking can be and usually is benign.
That said, clicking in the knee can indicate a tracking issue. I had that problem and strengthening muscles in the thigh (quads) helped a lot.
Are you the person who just started running recently? TMS aside, I'd keep the 10 percent rule in mind. That is, increase your mileage by no more than 10 percent a week. Otherwise you're risking injury. |

Thank you both for your thoughts. I think I will just continue to ignore it as best I can. It waxes and wanes as I run, sometimes it's there and sometimes it goes away, so maybe I'm tensing up at some point during the run and that is causing it. I actually came up with a visualization that lots of oils were being delivered to the sight to help it move better!!! No matter, I will continue on with my goals. |

You've made wonderful progress jg. Job well done. (just don't go crazy with the mileage right off :-)
Incidentally, so much for that "bone on bone" diagnosis. A good lesson for all of us. |
