Hi Bryan, I have been dealing with anxiety too, for about one year now. It all started with my sugar dropping (hypoglycemia) and not knowing what was happening - I almost fainted in the car. The dr. sent me to the neurologist and they did lots of tests. He wanted to see me in 6 months, I went to another neuro and she did more tests, I finally ended in the oncologist's office because they found something in my blood that was not supposed to be there. Fortunately it was a lab error. But I lived the worst year of my life and this triggered my (health) anxiety and then the daily panick attacks. I used to be a very laid back person. Like you, in 38 years I had never had any issue like this. Always thinking that things happen for a reason, always saying "no problem, man". Until this happened to me. It has been life changing. I think what people do not understand is that when you have anxiety you CANNOT control your fear. I agree that fear is useless, and does not help at all, but changing all the thoughts is a process. And it takes time. I am dealing with my anxiety with medication (SSRI)- I at first refused, but then I had to as nothing was helping, meditation, yoga, and also praying knowing that God has a plan for all of us. You are not alone my friend. If I can be of any help, please feel free to reply on the thread or message me. I know what you are going through and it is not easy. But as my "old" philosophy says, there is always a reason for things that happen to us. Maybe we need to learn something from all of this. I sure am! Love and light to you!

Balto, this is profoundly naive. You'd be (evidently) amazed at the dangerous medications the FDA approves. JUst listen to one of those tv commercials for XYZ medication. The list of side effects are enough to make your toes curl. The whole process by the way is deeply corrupt and wildly hypocritical. it's fine to take anti-psychotic medication which every now and then turns someone into a drooling, twitching wretch for life, but smoke a little pot and you can go to jail for years in some states.
More to the point, Benzo withdrawal is it's own kind of hell. I've been there, and it damn near killed me. I know you mean well, but it's reckless and unfair to dismiss someone's experience without educating yourself first. Don't mean to be harsh. You're a great asset to the forum generally.
Hi Art, I didn't know Bryan was talking about anti-psychotic medicine. I thought he was just taking some drugs from his allergist for his headache and sinus. And I didn't think some headache and sinus med could caused all those health problems plus 10 months long withdrawal symptoms, that is why I said what I said. It is very true that I know next to nothing about medicine and it's effect. I shouldn't give any opinion on them. Sure will not do that again. All drug have side effect. Even the food we eat can kill us sometime.
But I do think that anxiety and being stuck in a fear loop would surely intensify any of the withdrawal effect those medicines have on our body. It probably pretty hard to tell which symptoms are from withdrawal and which are from anxiety, or both. |

Balto,
Thanks, and you're one of my favorite posters around here. Your advice is always sound.
Happystar,
Sorry to hear you've been through so much as well, but I guess we all have or we wouldn't be here. :) Hope you're feeling better these days, and thank you so much for the kind words and well-wishes. I think I'm slowly getting a handle on this... it's just going to take more time, work and patience. Be well.
