I'm actually a medical marijuana patient. I'd dose with edibles and it helped quite a bit. But I couldn't get past the "high" even after a few weeks of doing it, so I stopped. I'm thinking of going back to it because of my stomach problems. I'm just not sure that's very conducive to doing my TMS work. Any thoughts on that?

My heartfelt thoughts would be DON'T smoke pot! I've done it, sold it and no good comes from it--maybe once in a blue moon, when you're a dumb kid in college, sitting around a candle listening to Dylan's "Everybody Must Get Stoned" with a couple of hot co-ed sisters in the Haight--otherwise no.
Read this, they aren't selling anything:

I see no reason why pot would be incompatible with TMS self-treatment... if you're using it to relieve the pain/discomfort of a chronic illness. |

It's all about dosage.
And if you take too much? Well, no-one in human history has ever....ever died from an MJ overdose. Freaky |

hi Tom,
The link you provided seems to be in line with all the anti MJ literature out there funded indirectly by medical (cough) drug companies, and alcohol too. When I checked the sources, it all traced back to government, or lobby groups whose livelyhood depends on mj drug enforcement.
The problem for these companies is that pot can be grown.....well, anywhere, anytime, and cheaply.
The drug co's don't want you to know this. So they lobby hard, and fight with literature that is self contradicting. For instance, mj produces some type of cell that could lead to cancer in the lung (emphasis on "could" which they hope you missed), and in the same paragraph say that further studies show no cancer growth in lungs from pot users. So they say it's "unsubstantiated." When in fact it was pretty stantiated afterall.
give this a shot:

So true lol. The first time I smoked it, I had no experience and never seen anyone else that smoked it. All I knew about pot was from watching Cheech and Chong as a kid. They'd take a toke and it seemed like they would get an instant high. Welllll, I got a joint (sativa) took a hit. A minute later, nothing. Took another hit, nothing. Took another and another and thought "man I must be immune". About 15 minutes later I was so high and freaked out I couldn't stand it. And stupidly, I didn't know you can't overdose on it so I called 911 and they actually took me to the ER. I wish they would have just told me it's cool, just ride it out, nothing bad will happen to you. $10 joint and a $1200 really bad high. It cost $900 just to ride in an ambulance!
So, I got smart and researched it. I find that an indica edible is the best for body pain. Smoking sativa can cause paranoia, especially if you're not used to it. It did work really well on my pain ... it's just I wish I didn't feel so loopy. |

Gee what's Big Brother to do? Say "oops, sorry" for spending probably billions of tax dollars, jailing 100,000's and denying people access to pain relief over an innocuous plant? I doubt that will happen any time soon. Here the feds are shutting down dispensaries and growers. What a waste of time and money! And for the people who use it for pain relief, how barbaric and how stupid can they be?

Funny that you bring this up. I'm currently watching (amoung my list of recorded shows that I try to sneak in 10min at a time on the dvr in between family demands) is Marijuana America or something like that. Heck, I watched all the MJ documentaries when they were having that free netflix promo.
Anyways, besides showing the side of the growers, and their success, they show their plight dealing with law enforcement. Particularily Nebraska, where they show the brazen law enforcement officers flying helicopters, and repelling out to destroy 5 plants here, 7 plants there throughout the moutains.
They (law enforce) claim they're winning. But they have to claim that. Winning what? The budget is in the millions, and it looks great to the voters. The voters who believe the answer to their anxiety is in the pill form from big pharma.
Law enforcement like to claim that MJ funds the other drugs. Well, decriminalize it, and the funds are gone. The children card is then played, but it's been proven in Amsterdam and other places that teens are educated on the reasons why they should wait, or not do it, and it's a non issue.
We've all heard MJ destroys brain cells. Well that was determined in a paid study by big pharma where they instructed scientists to prove MJ does this. No matter how big a dose, (given to monkeys) they could find no evidence of brain cells being destroyed. So what did they do? They upped the dose and smoke in the cells the monkeys where held to the point where all the oxygen was removed. Finally, they got their dead brain cells and where able to report it as such. The little detail they left out was all the monkeys died in the process. Dead monkeys = dead brain cells.
Why was MJ banned in the first place? Because paper companies that used trees could not compete with hemp. So, they lobbied to ban hemp. Hemp was evil to children as you now know. And God bless logging and global warming as a result. |

Couldn't agree more Skiz. The hypocrisy, not the mention the blind stupidity, is hard to bear. Alcohol? Fine, no problem. Can one even begin to calculate the cost to society on that score? Cigarettes? Sold in every convenience store in America. Pot? No way. Much too dangerous...at least to the drug companies.
Don't get me wrong. Smoke cigarettes if you want. Drink yourself comatose. Prohibition not only doesn't work, it makes things much, much worse. Just take a peek at what's going on in Mexico. 10's of thousands dead. Absolute carnage.
Shame on the Obama administration for what they're doing in California (and for all I know other states as well). The really depressing thing is Obama damn well knows better.

Skizzik,
I have netflix now, I found High: The True Tale of American Marijuana and going to watch it. Just the tidbit you gave me is just so wild, I have to watch.
I'm tapering off of Oxycontin right now. I have to tell you, it's no fun. I'm down from 160 mg post surgery but was taking about 60-80 mg before surgery. Once you build a tolerance, you can't just go up 10, 20, 30 mg you have to practically double it. I really don't believe that the majority of addicts are tethered to this drug for the high, in the beginning maybe, but when they say enough, they can't get off because they feel the withdrawal effects.
I tried CT'ing it because this is just a long drawn out nightmare, but CT'ing it is the bloody unfinished basement of hell. What pisses me off is, weed helped just as much with the pain. But by the time I knew that, I was already physically addicted to the oxycontin. I also feared doing the marijuana because I didn't want to take a blood test and have some dimwitted doctor pull my oxy leaving me CT without tapering. Or to be thought of as a druggie and left in a lot of pain during post op.
Their brainwashing is to the detriment of so many people. Anyway, I'm going to go watch the documentary. Should be "good".

I think that when we get "high" we tend to repress bad feelings, and thoughts, which is the same mechanism as TMS. I think it may make tms a little worse, that said I still do it. I've had tms symptoms when smoking and also when not smoking, and I've also had total remission of symptoms while both abstaining and using. so, I don't think it's critical, but then again it probably doesn't help. but if it helps other conditions, do what you need to do. and Obama ought to be ashamed at what the federal govt. is doing. he said what he had to say to get elected, now it's just a another broken promise |
