HI all. I have yet to post here but have been helped very much at times to come here and read. I was diagnosed by Dr. Schecter in February after having chronic pain on my left side only since I was eighteen years old. (I am 26 now.) I understand TMS and believe that I have the personality and history for it, but, the doubt creeps in a lot. It sometimes just all feels so structural in my body, especially in my left leg. The pain, discomfort, and strange sensations (chronic clicking knee, sense of heaviness, sharp pain in back of leg when stretched, just an overall completely different feeling than right leg) have never really seemed to leave my left leg, though it's felt less at times. My big fear is that I have this strange sensation of tingling on my low calf/ankle/foot region when touched. On the EMG testing Dr. Schecter conducted there WERE abnormalities, which even he seemed a bit surprised by. The lower back MRI was normal. My big question is can TMS really cause abnormalities on an EMG test? This wouldn't be structural? Is the only way to have strange nerve sensations in that area because of lower back stuff? I'm no expert on the human body... I know people get frustrated here when there's a lot of doubt and fear and questioning...trust me I want so badly to believe and be free of doubt, and I want to get better, because this pain has made me suicidal at various times in my life... and even if this wasn't TMS I don't really know what I could do or take to get better. I fear as if this is as good as it gets and I need to just accept that my body will always feel this way, not have "great expectations." I'd really appreciate some feedback on the EMG testing and tingling sensation, if someone has the time or understanding. Thank you. |
