I am wondering if anyone has experience or knowlege about EFT - Emotional Freedom Technique? It was recommended to me by a friend. I read up on it and it seems to require a one to think about past trauma or anger while tapping on specific points in the body. I can see how this might work since it does require you to think about past and current issues.

Renee, From my experience with EFT (which is limited) therapists may take slightly different approaches with it. When I tried it (only twice) with a psychotherapist I didn't find it helpful but was AMAZED at how worked up and upset I got remembering the "traumatizing" incident. Maybe I would have benefited if I had done it more than twice with her... Then I went to a hypnotherapist who did it differently - it was still "tapping" on certain spots but she had me repeat her and say things like, "Even though I'm in pain and have problems in the past, I'm healthy, I'm safe, I have more resources than I did before, I'll be OK" etc... What I mostly took from it was just the "tapping" of certain areas as a way to relax quickly when I'm stressed, though I'm not sure that would really qualify as EFT.
Sorry if this isn't very helpful. I guess my advice would be that if you have the funds it's probably worth a try. |

Search the forum, many discussions on the topic.
My belief is EFT is a gimmick. If it works it is due to the skill of the therapist and not because of the tapping. |

Try faster EFT look on utube at Robert Smith he is really good and has hundreds of videos which I have found to be really helpful. Be prepared for it to bring out a lot of deep emotions. I now use it every day and have noticed a great improvement in my pain and life. |
