The link that is provided on the Brady tapes does not seem to work. Also when I typed in the web address - www.bradyinstitute.com it did not come up. I cannot find any info on how to obtain this tapes or go to his website. Can somebody help?
Also does anybody know if shoulder pain, loss of range of motion is due to TMS and has anybody succesfully treated shoulder, rotator cuff problems with sarno's methods... I have increasing shoulder pain with loss of range of motion. It just keeps getting worse even though I ice, use heat, try and do slow range of motion excercises to avoid getting "frozen shoulder" but it seems that it is headed in that direction... It is painful when I move certain positions but does not throb when at rest. Thanks Elise..

Hi elise8
My second to last conversion symptom before reading the book was an ongoing shoulder problem. It was a "phantom" pain that moved around a lot by the back left shoulder blade. It would go from frozen to sharp pain,to tolerable, and back again in an ongoing caroussel of the charade. My first son had just been born and I of course, along with working more hours at my regular job, had to do domestic chores...laundry,washing dishes..this was what "flared it up"...oddly,I could lift weights for fun,and play sports and the symptoms would evaporate. Also,it never bothered me at work...only when I was home.
I of course blamed it on the heavy bags of concrete and cinder blocks I had to schlep at work.I assumed it built up all day and spasmed when I relaxed....it never went away...just subsided....I was always in fear of another attack.
Than, after the resolution of miraculous proportion regarding my back a few years later,I had another episode with the other shoulder.I can and do throw baseballs almost every day of my life. All of a sudden out of nowhere,my throwing arm began to ache horribly around the shoulder...I thought I'd torn ligaments or something horrible.I went to the regular MD who of course gave me cortisone injections and warned me of dire consequences if I didn't respond....and I didn't.It continued to hurt even after a week off of throwing. In fact ..IT was WORSE!!
From all the baseball Literature I read,I was certain I had torn the rotator cuff, which the MD had implied might be the problem.Thank GOD I never had an MRI....I've learned that virtually anybody who has ever thrown a ball has scarring from tears along their rotator cuff...and the body heals it stronger and stronger each time.
I got an inkling that it might be TMS and treated it as such...I re-read the book, thinking about my shoulder, and painstakingly probed my mind for what I was angry about.
I figured it out in about 3 days of intense soul(unconscious mind) searching, and when the "lightbulb" lit up,the pain evaporated in a matter of minutes.
I don't think I would have had such quick results if I hadn't been through the deal already.I have had TMS symptoms of:Lower back pain, sciatica(both legs) shoulders(both) neck, feet(reynauds) hands and "pinched nerves in my forearms. That is just the structural list....anxiety attacks, allergies,OCD,ear infections and respiratory problems.....it is sneaky and everchanging....and scary!!!
I hope that helps you.....
TMS loves shoulders...it is a great place to distract you,and like your back, you need it for virtually everything.
peace

Elise8,
You are right about the link to the brady page. I think it may be one of those temporary glitches that happen from time to time. Perhaps you could try someone else like Sarno or Schechter. (Go to home page on this site and click on tms links)
Have you read Sarno coz I'm 100% sure that he mentions either in HBP or MBP that rotator cuff is TMS, no doubts whatsoever. I know he mentions it during his lecture on the Sarno video. If you haven't read him yet, do so immediately.
I don't think you have read or understood tms thoroughly otherwise you wouldn't be mentioning icing and heat.
Good Luck & Good Health Mala |

Elise8, I just got an e-mail back from Dr. Brady. He said he will correct the problem with his website, so hopefully it will be back up soon.
Thanks, Angie |

Thanks Baseball and others for the helpful comments on the shoulder problems. It is just so hard for me to believe this is TMS as it fits the "frozen shoudler, rotator cuff problem" to the tee. I have severely restricted range of motion when trying to move the arm up over my head or the action where I have to tuck my shirt in to my pants around the back side with my right hand. It is just excruciating when I move it in a certain position or have any type of pulling action. I will definitely get out my Sarno books again. I would really like to get the Brady tapes. Hopefully his website will be working again soon. I just checked it and it still does not work as of 01/31 10 a.m. MST. I am contemplating going to a regular doctor just to get some physical therapy so it does not get frozen permanently and become more restricted, but then that would go against all TMS beliefs. I guess I am not totally convinced that this is 100% TMS. Can't there be injuries that really do cause pain and are not TMS? It is so hard to figure out what is TMS and what is really pain from an injury.. Elise
