I have just recently realized that I have had TMS symptoms early in my life. I have always been healthy in general, but when I was a kid I had horrible hay-fever. It started very young, and my eyes would itch and water so bad during the summers, I would just cry. As I got older, the allergies subsided. Then, every year I would get some kind of wierd break-out of hives. My doctor always diagnosed me with Scabies. Thing is, it always went away after a few weeks, and I got it every year for 2-3 years, about the same time. Probably not a parasite. Besides, nobody else in the family ever got it. After the hives, the canker sores got really bad. I had horrible canker sores for many years. I would also get the occasional stiff and sore neck.

Once I got out of my parents house and on my own, it's interesting that I don't recall any more issues. No more allergies (not significant anyway), canker sores went away, never any pain to speak of. That was a really good 15 years or so, and then the horrible back pain started after my kids were born. Canker sores come and go. And now the numbness, pain, and weakness in my right leg. Also other TMS symptoms migrating around my body, never staying in the same place.

Also interesting, I've diagnosed my 7 year old daughter with TMS. She has leg pain every night. No reason for it. We called it "growing pains" when we were kids. She has pain upon finger pressure for all of the classic TMS points, plus all of the fibromyalgia pain points. She has all of the classic TMS personality traits. How do you cure a 7 year old? She doesn't have any concept of an unconscious mind. I tell her to talk to her pain and tell it to go away. She tries, but you can tell she doesn't understand. At least as she gets older, I'll be able to explain it when she is ready.

I had terrible "growing pains" as a kid way back in the late 50's. Sarno actually mentions them as TMS in one of his books.

Since your daughter's so young, I'd consider a placebo. Half a baby aspirin perhaps, or an actual sugar pill if you can find them. Tell your daughter they're "very strong," so she can only have half. Dollars to donuts it works...

Did you investigate what is causing your daughter to have tms at such a young age like that? too much tension at home, in school? someone bully her in school, online? too much homework assignment? too much activities in and out of school?...

Maybe growing pain is a real pain due to structural changes to a young body. I have seen them very often in my own kid and nieces and nephews. (I have quite a few of them) and I can say they all have a wonderful life with none or very little stress.

Maybe they just have easily suggestive minds. When they see you're in pain, their body feel it too. Just want to share it with daddy and mom.

It's possible that the pain is due to structural changes as she grows. I suspect that isn't the case, since her neck, back, lateral buttocks, elbows, knees, and iliotibial band all have soreness if you apply finger pressure. You never know how the unconcious mind will react to situations. If you compared her life to others, I think you would find that it shouldn't be "stressful". On the other hand, obviously her unconcious is angry about things. The things that generate stress for me and unconcious anger probably create exhileration for others.

It's no mystery to me at all that sensitive children get TMS. I had plenty of existential angst as a kid. I felt lonely at times, and lost in the family, and I clearly recall struggling with pervasive insecurities...

I had terrible TMS as a kid and teenager.

If I could of told me parents back then what to do I would of told them to take me out of school, I didn't fit in, I was too sensitive and too much of an entrenprenuer to be told what to do. I needed quiet time at home.

I also would of told my Dad to lighten up and find something he enjoys doing so I did't have to dread coming home at the end of the day not knowing what mood he was in. So, I dreaded going to school and coming home. Great!
