I've found playing or better yet snuggling with one of my dogs a very effective strategy for reducing fear and worry. Those loving, nurturing feelings are really the polar opposites of those that perpetuate TMS symptoms...

Of course, a wife or girlfriend or lover of whatever description would serve as well.

The other night I was suffering with hamstring pain, something I've finally decided had to be TMS, and it worked like a charm.

Absolutely. I had a dog, he died 9 years ago but the love i felt was so intense and the chemicals that ran through my body felt like the most intense love, even more than I have felt for a person at times. I mean feelings that brought tears to my eyes. How can you feel anxiety at a time like that? Great that you have experienced this and have dogs now. I am fortunate to have dogs in my life but nothing like your own at home. If you care to tell, I am wondering what breeds you have.

Hi Susan,

We've got 3 Italian Greyhounds at the moment. Jack's 10. Theo's 6. Tommy the baby is about 1.5. Incredibly sweet and intelligent dogs. They remain puppies by temperament for years...

OH are you lucky! They are the sweetest breed on the planet! There are dog meetups here and one day I saw 1, 2, all of a sudden about 30 Italians coming to the dog run when I realized it was a meetup. I was on my way out of the park but you know I stayed! The whole greyhound family, standard, whippets and of course, Italians are just the most good natured dogs I have ever seen. They are so in tune with people's emotions, extremely sensitive, pure love...no wonder you have three. If I had a house, so would I!

I used to have 3 dogs too but now only one left. I love dogs but I don't think I'm going to get any more dogs. I bonded with them like family and I found it so tough to deal with the lost of any of them. It was horrible for weeks.

Susan,

You're so right. Their sensitivity is extraordinary. Tommy the baby is unbelievably obedient with no training at all. He just us so anxious to please. If I say, "Tommy go away now" he gives me a look of pure understanding and trots off, but always with one backward glance just to be sure I really mean it...

Balto, it hurts like hell, but I can't see life without animals. No greater joy than the companionship of a loving pet in my experience...
