It's all in your head, indeed. But the message has to be delivered, as you've discovered for yourself, in the right way by the right source.
That's an inspiring story, at least insofar as you've shared, and you're obviously a talented fellow with much to say. i'm a writer myself and I like your style.
The world surely could use a good book on the subject. I've no doubt you'd write a good one. I wasn't clear on whether you've decided against the MFA? Doesn't really matter, but I sense you're a young man in a hurry. Lacking professional credentials, namely an M.D., you're a bit limited in that you'd probably have to go the memoir route.
The good news is those babies sell.
