Hi!
I´ve had problems with both my arms for about 4 years now. Every doctor i speak to tell me that i have an RSI. I have taken all kinds of pictures and tests and they cant find nothing wrong.
My pain goes from my fingers(especially the thumb) up to the albow, and a bit upward on the arm. I also feel tense in my shoulder, but not PAIN, like in the arms.
I have now used alot of money and time to try to fix my arms. All the doctors i speak to tell me different types of treatmens, and they throw me like a ball from one specialist to the other.
I was once at a guy who did some kind of preassure threatment, where he pushed and massasged my back, my arms and my shoulder. After this first treatment i didn´t feel any pain at all! For one day!. This was made me feel free, and that i had found my kind of threatment. But that was not the case.
I have read a bit about TMS, and i have bought "the mindbody prescription" and read it halfthrough.
Does anyone out there have some specific thing i can do, think, say or any kind of excersie i can do to remove the pain?
I just lost my job, because of this arms. I have a constant pain in both arms, and fingers. It doesnt mather if i sit still or lift weights. Actually it feel better when i lift weights. But can anybody help?
Thx

Sorry you lost your job.
The TMS pros on here have the strait dope better than I, but I'll toss in my bit.
If the docs have been all over you and found nothing wrong -- that's good news! You don't have any structural problems to get in the way of "curing" yourself. Accept that it is TMS.
I actually found Healing Back Pain more useful than MBP in exposing what type of person I am, and that has set me on a path to getting better. Three months ago I couldn't jog or sit in a car without horrible pain or do a lot of things. I'm not there yet, so sometimes it takes some time. Don't give up. Not everybody is cured immediately after reading the books.
As far as exercise, the advice by Sarno is to quit it. If you want to exercise for all over fitness, fine, but nothing that focuses on rehabilitation of your RSI problem.
Read through the forum here especially; there are others who have had RSI and beat it. Read the success stories. It's really important.
Then if you can "get" that you have TMS, the advice is to "get on with life" or use the "F-it" method regarding your pain. The pain is there, but "F-it".
Good luck. I have a feeling you'll be one of the success stories.

Yes, read Healing Back Pain. And stop seeing doctors. They can't help you, but they're more than happy to take your money..
There's nothing wrong with your arms. Your first job is to accept that. If you can't truly believe it, then at least try not to fear injuring yourself through the use of your arms. TMS feeds off of fear. The less fear, the quicker the relief in my experience...
Since there's nothing wrong with your arms, it's time to start using them again. If you have fear, that's ok. Act "as if" you don't have fear, and move ahead..
Once you've read HPB, you'll have a much better sense of things.
You're in the right place. I can just about guarantee it. As the previous poster pointed out, the sticky part is out of the way. You've been told...over and over...there's nothing structurally wrong. That leaves psychosomatic illness...in other words TMS...

Thx for reply! Then i will buy HBP right away and it read it.
Im trying not to think about the pain, but it has become a part of me. Im kind of used to the constant pain in the arms, and my mind is always on the arms(hard to concentrate sometimes) I´m really trying to say f¨ck the pain, and think "the pain is not real, and theres nothing wrong with me" but its not that easy.
Thanks for your advices!

It's hard not to believe your pain. We're not only taught to fear it, we're built to fear it. It's nature's way of protecting us.
But once you get an understanding of how TMS works, it won't be so difficult. It's an advantage to be more or less convinced you've got TMS, but it's not a necessity. Again, you need only act as if you're convinced. Eventually, and probably much sooner than later, the pain will begin to ebb.... |
