When you say deadness and that you feel like you can't use the leg but can I become somewhat confused. My deadness feels like the leg is lead. I can walk on it but I do not have complete control over it-most times I can't get it to lift up can't lift up my knee towards the chest-can't lift foot high enough off floor to dress. There is very little motor skill. Is this what you have? how often. How do I get rid of the fear and just chock it up to TMS when feeling like your leg is parralized is very very frightening - The TMS syndrome is working on my low back, upper back and sciatica pain (nerve pain) but not this deadness. Any help-Thank You
Thanks

My problem apparently is more sensory and with much less motor deficit than you are experiencing. All I can tell you is that my leg feels numb and very weak, but it actually works pretty well when I force myself to use it normally. Infrequently, I may stumble or limp, but most of the time an impartial observer would not be able to tell that I am having pain/feelings of weakness in the leg. From what I remember of Sarno's books, TMS blocking of blood flow/oxygen can cause motor problems as well as sensory problems....Did you say that you had seen a TMS doctor? I would if I were you - even if this required long distance travel - since you are having such substantial motor problems. I really can't advise you how to get rid of your fear since it now appears that you are experiencing something very different than I am. Of course, in general, you would want to think psychologically rather than physically, ignore the pain and motor problems as much as possible, tell your brain that you're on to the charade, and move on with normal activities despite the pain.
