I'm new to computers and bought my Dell laptop for viewing this board, which has become a vital part of my day. I've adjusted to the new format and realize it has a lot of bells and whistles that will be fun to get acquainted with. I miss the overview of the old board though. I am reserving judgment and realize it's like TMS--I feel uncomfortable with anything that takes me out of my comfort zone.
I am finding that using the "Original Post First then Newest Replies" format works for me.
Under profile, is it possible to post an ongoing personal history, so we don't have to write a rehash for those new to the board?
If anyone has tips on how they use the new format more efficiently, it would be aprreciated by this computer-internet newbie. |

As far as viewing messages, the one feature that this software does not yet support is threaded mode, where you can view topics and replies in a hierarchical tree view. Personally, I do not miss that feature, as I find the message sorting within a topic to be adequate. However, it is on my list to look into adding a threaded view to this forum.
There are various options available under Profile but I chose to disable them because some users might feel that it is an invasion of privacy. I have gone ahead and enabled Gender, Age, Bio and Latest News. You can access this information by clicking the Profile link on the top of the page. Then, other members can view the information you enter by clicking on your name. Of course, all of this information is strictly optional. |

Hey Dave,
I appreciate you running this site. I am sure you are picking up the tab. Something like this does not come for nothing. I am thankful that there is no adveritising to clutter up the board. Again, thanx. |

Dave, I think an OPTIONAL bio. mode would be useful so as not to have to spend time on rehashing personal histories when new people find the board and ask about years long pain historys.
It could definitly be optional. It might also be useful personaly to chronicle milesones on our TMS roads.
I read a message board for my diabetic cat and they have a member profile along those lines making it easier for responders to get a more complete picture of the history of the poster's cat's vitals.
Not looking for more work for you Dave, just a suggestion. Appreciate all your good work keeping this site going. |

It's already there -- just click on the Profile link at the top of the page. |

The one thing I really miss from the old board is the indicator that I have already read a message (different colors were used on that board). I find myself rereading messages in order to get to the new ones. Maybe this feature already exists, and I'm overlooking it, but if not, I think it would be a useful addition--if the software makes it possible. |
