I hope it's feeling better now and that your other teeth settle down - good luck with the permanent crown. |

Sara, I just read your posts and it sounds like you are having a tremendous amount of anxiety from your teeth. Infected teeth can be very painful and it sure sounds like that is what is happening to you. The lump is pretty indicitive of infection. BTW, that lump can remain several months after the root canal so don't be alarmed. I have had about 9 root canals. Seems like, as you age, your teeth move forward which changes your occlusion which can damage your teeth as you are not biting down the same. The best way to avoid root canals is to have check-ups evey six months to catch the cavity before it damages the tooth. I didn't do so and paid the price and the dumb thing is that I went to school to be a Hygienist. You are actually more prone to cavaties as you age. I had so many when I was young, I thought I was done with that. Also, I didn't know dentists still used amalgam. Mine does not, but I have had plenty of amalgam fillings in the past with no adverse effect. For me tms never affects my teeth because I,like Tom, am very comfortable at the dentist. Whenever you see a bump on your gum that is sore, there is usually somthing going on. Never let an abcess go because that infection can do some bad stuff to you. Best to you, Susie |

hi susie thanks for the reply! going to the dentist actually caused it lol..i have gone regularly all my life and only needed two replacement filling and one new one .which apparently were small,,,but for some reason my dentist can't fathom i haven't responded very well to them! i'm hoping the lump will settle as the dentist is packing the tooth with antibitics everyweek untill the infection is gone before she finishes the root canal. it has taken over my life thou as i'm in constant pain ( even thou low grade prob 3-4 out 10 it never goes away) and also can't eat properly and as i'm diabetic this has affected my overall health. i think stress and anxiety are making it worse thou. i'm reading louise hay heal your life at the mo. using affirmations that my teeth are healthy and can repair and ate NOT unusually sensitive as my dentist said! thanks again for the advise..knowing there are others out there with same probs doesn't make me feel like a freak (which my dentist is at the mo) just as well i'm not scared of dentists lol!! |

Sara, for what it's worth, I have always been given antibiotics orally for the infection. Usually 5 days worth. You might ask. I have always had the root canal in one visit and then gone back in a few weeks to be fitted for the crown. |

i have asked should i take antibiotics for it and she said NO we are treating it the right way and if u use antibiotics all the tme then they won't work when you really need them? so i guess i can't make her give them to me. i'm seeing an oral surgeon on thursday about my wisdom tooth so maybe i'll ask what he thinks. its getting to me thou..don't even wanna get up in the morning..gonna do some more tms work today and possibly some eft stuff... thanks again sara |

Sara, I would try another dentist. A little amoxicillin would get rid of your infection and discomfort and you could put it behind you immediately instead of this prolonged treatment. I have moved several times, so my root canals have been spread out with 3 different dentists and all give oral antibiotics. This is a real easy procedure, albiet unpleasant for an hour, and she is making it pure misery. Azithromiacin also works good if you are allergic to pennicillan. I think you have a holistic dentist. |

i would try and find a different one but as she's started it now..i think i'll let her finish it. also it's hard trying to find a decent dentist in the uk. she is a private one not nhs one but resonably priced. she's also right nest to my work so i can go at lunctimes and not have to keep having time off..so am with her for the convienince...the lump is starting to go down today so hopefully it won't be much longer now! |
