TT and All, Still working on this TMS wrist thing..Been reading wonderful posts by TT, Dave and more..It will be very interesting to see how I feel once this important singing engagement on Thursday is behind me..Took my wolf doggie to Lake Mead yesterday and the drive seemed to aggravate my symptoms..(Notice I said "seemed") I saw a photo about RSI on a website and the thumb area was highlighted in pink..Wouldn't you know it that now my right thumb is hurting! Hugs to all, Karen |

Great news TMS Poster Child! That's a huge improvement over a day ago when you couldn't lift the cereal box!
Regarding "Pink-Thumb" TMS, it reminds me of one of my favorite examples of TMS conditioning. It involves a psych study about folks who were allergic to roses. They substituted plastic roses for the real ones. You guessed it, they broke out in allergic sneezing reactions to seeing the plastic roses. Isn't the mind marvalous at creating maischief with us?
Carry on Karen!

Thanks for the encouraging words, TT! I am doing my best to drive, etc. even though I'm having that twitching in the middle finger going on again. It's appears that driving hurt me, but I'm starting to realize otherwise..Flossing and typing is still out, for now..At least until after my show Thursday..:) |

Suppose that for what ever reason the show is postponed... Suppose that your friend would call you and apologize...suppose that you were asked to make an other CD right now...Would the pain recede or intensify?
Of course by now you can tell that if these questions profoundly affect your nerves then there must be something that can be done about it too. For example and to keep it short you can set up a new date , thank your friends for their wisdom and start working on the new songs...
Maybe the same thing goes with these emotions you are not aware of that indirectly create symptoms in your body. This may take a bit longer but the success depends on you.
What causes that? What are you supposed to do with them if you don't even know what they are? What is the process that will allow you to stop or diminish the symptoms? If you keep track of those symptoms in detail and how painful they are will it be enough to reverse them? Is there a known method to deal with this?
Now there is help available for sure but first it's you turn to answer these few questions Karen.
Be your best for the show. |

Thanks for your poignant questions, Catspine..:) If I got a sincere apology from my friend, I am sure that would be one less buried emotion inside of me..ie..Rage! I agree 100% that painful emotions, especially repressed ones wreak havoc with our bodies..Interestingly, I had a profound dream about my parents last night..(Surely my unconscious working out some things for me) I lost both my parents almost 20 years ago, they were way too young to die..I am far from over that, especially because I never (yet) started a family of my own..My parents divorced when I was 19, I took it really hard..Although they were both married to other people, they still died five months apart from each other..I was on the road singing with a well-known band at the time this took place..(talk about stress??) I could go on but this starting to get really long..
Since this dream my neck and shoulders are starting to tighten up and freak out..It's amazing how TMS makes the pain shift around in the body..Wrists are still acting up, but improving..And, right before my eyes I can feel things shifting to my neck..(probably TMS's favorite location in my body) I'm trying to stop it by focusing in a positive way on my performance tomorrow night..I still have a lot to do in preparation..I am also inviting friends to my B-day party on June 18th..That's also kicking up pain, just from the age I am turning and still being single!
Thanks for listening to my jabbering! Karen |

Karen, The apology may come someday so don't dispair or expect anything for now. This episode with your friend may add to the load at this time but it probably did not cause the problem since you had it before that happened. The issue with your parents or with you wanting to have a family is an other story, I hope the questions did not wake up painful memories but if they did it is better to be aware of it than not because this may be an indication of what's causing the problem.Let's hope that once the performance is behind you you can take your time to have a better look at that.
Still single? Oh well... that's still much better than being with the wrong person and you also have a career to secure for now (just in case you'd want to make it easier to support a family). You'll know the day you'll be ready for that because everything will fall into place starting probably by being pain free for a while...
It is amazing how Tms works but what is even more amazing is how you can get rid of it ! in my case all it took was to read a book well, almost. Anyhow on the long run the dark side as powerful as it may look doesn't stand a chance once the bright one kicks in.
Focusing in a positive way on your performance tomorrow night, yes ! Very very good! but don't forget to consciously release the tension from your body every time you can catch it manifesting somewhere, release the tension and take a slow deep breath at the same time... You're getting there, don't give up.

Hi Catspine, Actually, the wrist issue began after the falling out with the friend.. But, I think it has more to do with pressure regarding tomorrow's gig.. It's not stage fright per se, but pressure to sell CDs.. You make some excellent points about being single, etc.. Can't tell you how much your support means to me! Thank you! Hugs, Karen |

Time has come to have some fun with the gig and especially on stage to communicate all that you like while you can. Here is your chance to get a break from TMS.
Artists have this fantastic ability to make us believe that all is well when we get to see them, they look good and happy, none of their problems show,it's just like they don't have any, everybody thinks that they have a fantastic job, and that they get to do what they like not to mention that we like what they do and how they do it, it makes us feel good because we don't know how they can do that so easily. Hummm! maybe that's one of the reason why people like to buy the CD that will remind them of that particular moment again and again... |

So true, Catspine..:) Except, although people think we are all "happy and together," sometimes it's the exact opposite..(As you probably realize) Us entertainers and artists can be quite tormented and overly sensitive..I am an artist (painter) and singer so it's a double whammy..Probably have an over-active right brain! I'll let you know how the gig goes..I'm thinking, awesome! |

Karen, Be happy and together and the gig will go well you know that and it's not like you don't know what to do... Perhaps there is people out there more worried about the outcome of it than you are especially the one who can do nothing about your performance although they 'd like it to be a HUGE success for obvious reasons. They need to know everything will be okay and if you pump the kind of positive energy into the whole thing and around you chances are it will spread like a good news and everything will be alright. If you can manage the strength to do this the universe will help you with the rest.

Congratulations Karen, As long as you do your part things should keep on improving. Now , it's not over yet and it would be good to monitor the improvements (not the symptoms of course) as days go by . This should give you a better understanding about the origin of the problem in terms of probability and steer you in the good direction as long as you don't start to focus on the pain and the physical again. It's likely that the perspective of the gig was only adding to the load but did not create the condition . So try to pay attention to what you're thinking about when your mind gets a chance to wander toward repetitive thoughts because obviously you're better off with one less question for tension to feed on ...but don't repress it address it instead . Nevertheless and not to drive yourself crazy it's important to remember that it is what you may not be aware of that is responsible for this condition.
Very well! Now you can start typing your birthday party invitations keep on getting better... |

Hi Catspine, Sorry for the delay in writing.. I know I still have lots of work to do dealing with the multitude of ways that TMS manifests in my bodymind! Working with Dr. Brady's book, it's awesome.. Staying busy with my music/art.. In the studio again tomorrow recording more originals for the band in Chicago.. If you're curious about what I do, check out my profile here.. It has my website listed.. (it's inappropriate for me to list it in a post).. You are my new TMS pal! Hugs, Karen |

Karen No problem here. It was a nice real honest response from you and I did understand that you meant to express your gratitude and happiness which of course I did feel but failed to share on the spot as I should have. If someone had to apologize I should be the one . As I thought I could help when I saw your posts I decided to help you at the risk of being too personal but I presume it worked because you saw it for what it was meant to be and this is as I saw your reply as well pal. |
