Hello, Just registered, and this is first post. I'm 58, just found out about TMS, been on pain meds for about 5 years, want off totally. Hopeful that this information may be of great help, to me and other pain sufferers. I'm reading John Sarno's Mindbody Prescription , and plan on reading more about this subject, as fast as possible. I'm also using TM again, (learned it in the 70's, but drifted away, as other items in my life were allowed to take higher priority. Funny how pain is a big motivator to get disciplined with one's self. So, any tips on getting rid of the pain, in my neck, shoulders, lower back, & feet, (numb & burn), will be most appreciated. Also, using a Teeter-hangup to stretch regularly now too. Thanks in advance! |

Hi Welcome. How severe are your symptoms and the pain? Did you read healing back pain yet? Good idea to try to get off the medication if you can do it, what does your doctor says about that? . |

symptoms before pain pills, always at a 5 or 6, esp. my elbow pain, doc says he will help me get off the pain pills, seeing him Wed, for nerve block, and updated MRI of total spine. But in light of TMS, I wonder how long before, I figure out, how to quit repressing my emotions, and causing all that inner tension, that makes my sub create that stupid pain syndrome ??? thank you, Robert quote: Originally posted by catspine

You mentioned numbness so I think it was a good idea to get checked out for physical abnormality. Numbness may indicate a pinched nerve. As for pain there is no evidence yet that pinched nerve creates pain. You may want to read Healing Back Pain to find out more about this particular issue. Of course one condition does not always exclude the other and if you tend to repress your emotions you can definitely qualify for TMS as well not to mention that tension itself can yank things out of place that end up pinching a nerve. All I could say for now is that you may want to find out more about TMS before you make a final decision like getting operated or having injections and such. It is definitely worth the try. Did you read the success stories in the All Forum section yet? |

Worth a mention that you won't stop repressing your emotions, because the repression is subconcious, you are not aware of it happening, if you were aware you wouldn't have this problem. Anyway, you will read the book... |
