I am new to this site, but have been reading Sarno since 1992. Cured my back and neck pain, my frequent urination, and vulvodynia, and I am now experiencing IBS, I guess. It's just loose stool and gas cramping and gurgling. I know all the things that are upsetting me...too many to mention here. But since IBS is new to me, I'm not sure how to approach this. I usually eat fruit, veggies, fish, really healthy diet, but now, my stomach won't tolerate those foods...just want cheese, pasta, some chicken, muffins, etc. Went to the doctor (not a tms guy) and he thought it was "stress." How do you all deal with this? I know the tms stuff, but what about the diet? It seems I have to eat these certain foods, which is part of the difficulty...keeps me obsessed with it, etc. Please help...thank you. |

I won't venture to know what you should do, but all those foods sound like a kind of antidote to the "healthy" diet you were describing before
and they sound very much like "comfort" foods
one of the places this kind of childhood stuff and stress can show up is in food addiction and emotional eating - in fact there are probably a lot more forums about THAT
and part of that addiction is obsessing about what to eat
they would all say you SHOULD eat the fish, veggies, etc., but they talk about their carb craving all the time
My two cents is to go with the comfort foods, but (sorry: DIETARY BELIEF ALERT!) it will be less likely to turn into a problem if you can find versions that avoid wheat, cow dairy, sugar. Those food items are right now quite loaded with low quality stuff and GMO problems which some very wise people I know do believe cause serious health problems and it seems true for me.
I do my comfort food with oatmeal, rice bread, stevia and other low glycemic sweeteners, and I do okay with goat and sheep dairy, but not cow.
Love is the answer, whatever the question |
