Hi all,
This is my 4th week doing dedicated Sarno TMS work (reading Sarno, reviewing my list, journaling). I'm having some little, temporary improvements in the lower back pain. It's pretty much a constant dull ache now. I'm also battling depression.
So I decided to push myself yesterday with some cycling. About 2 hours before hitting the road, I started getting tight pain in my upper left back. I pushed through the cycling (it wasn't pleasant, but good for me.) I still have the pain in the upper back today.
The pain in the lower back didn't go away as the upper back pain came on. It wasn't pain moving, just more pain in a different place. So, is this the symptom imperative at work? Part of me is hoping it's the symptoms getting worse before they get better.
Input? Experiences?
(Yeah, I know that I'm thinking physical.) |

Yes, this is probably just symptoms getting worse before they get better. The pain doesn't necessarily have to move OUT of an area for it to be the symptom imperative.
The fact that the new pain started before you even began the physical activity should be a red flag. In my person experience I've noticed that my legs will sometimes begin to hurt a few minutes BEFORE I START to run or something along those lines--clearly not a physical cause.
Good job doing physical activity without fearing the pain! |
