Hi all, Just wondering if anyone out there can offer some support around frequent urinary issues/bladder pressure. Initial urine culture showed positive for bacteria/UTI so an antibiotic was prescribed. That did not help and then was put on another antibiotic, still no relief. All cultures came back negative, so nothing definitive going on. I know Sarno talks of urinary issues and wanted to ask if anyone could lend some assistance, other than just "working the TMS concepts". That is a given, and I know the program and am working it but is there anything else that helped anyone for relief? Thanks! |

I went through several months of something similar. Finally the urologist said that it was just muscle spasms, most probably due to stress. If I had even had an infection it was minor and all those antibiotics that the GP prescribed were not worth it. Just knowing that it was only spasms helped me a great deal and helped to stop worrying about it. Sometimes if you can believe that it is not something serious your mind stops stressing over it. Hope this helps.

Hi there:
I'm going through something very similar right now. Check out Dr. Howard Schubiner's on-line lecture at yourpainisreal.com.
He is pretty clear that these issues are TMS.
Good luck- hkp |

Oh, one more thing. A life coach writes a blog about her experiences overcoming genitourinary issues. It doesn't sound like you have the whole constellation of symptoms she describes so it might now work for you - and if you're like me, you wouldn't want to ADD new symptoms through suggestibility! But I've found it inspiring. You might check it out...

Not sure if this story will help or not, but I've just gone through this, too! At first when I got symptoms, I just kind of laughed and thought "oh, it's just TMS; I'm not going to worry about it." Over the course of several more weeks, it got worse though, and I started wondering if I should really have it checked out, so I went to the doctor's and after a quick office test, he gave me a short (3-day standard) course of antibiotics. As SOON as I stopped taking the antibiotics, my symptoms got much worse and I just KNEW I needed the 7-day course of antibiotics (!) so I went back to the doctor's and told him I needed more. He said, "hmmm... well we sent your last culture to the lab, and nothing showed!!" He wasn't sure whether I had even HAD a real infection!" THEN I *KNEW* IT WAS TMS!!!
My doctor talked about maybe it being "cystitis" suggesting I look up dietary treatments for it, etc, and gave me a prescription for "cystitis" (symptomatic relief I think; it was not an antibiotic), but I just walked out of his office and totally knew it was "psychological" / TMS. Since then, it's gotten better. :o)
I do recall all the symptoms started when I was very upset about a relationship issue and coincidentally (?!!) I seem to have gotten better as that issue has become more resolved.
In terms of "relief" not sure I can help .. just be very kind to your bladder while the TMS heals? Also ... a line I always return to for reassurance which I got from Rachel's RSI (Homage to Sarno) site: "You already got your life back, you can do WHATEVER you want. ANYTHING. The only thing left to do is to get rid of the discomfort. And that can take as long as it needs to. Don't stress about it."

Exactly the same happened to me. Hospital tests showed “heavy” infection and I felt feverish and was off work for a week. After I'd completed the 2nd batch of antibiotics with no change in symptoms I went back to the doctor expecting to be given stronger antibiotics.
Instead she said firmly,”There is no way those antibiotics wouldn't have worked.” She couldn't send another sample off as she said the antibiotics would affect the test, but she arranged for me to have blood tests to see what else would be causing the symptoms. By then I knew it was TMS (the blood tests showed negative, of course) and the next day I forced myself to stay out of bed and move around. The following day I was back at work – still not 100%, but the day after I was more or less back to normal.

Wow Hilary, That's a powerful story. Very convincing too, because you knew after all the sillyness of it all that it was the TMS gremlin. Thanks |
