Would like very much to hear from someone with IC who has recovered by appying the Sarno technique. I have been diagnosed with IC about three years ago. The synmptoms did come on after a tramatic event. I think the burning vaginal symptoms, the pelvic pain, bladder urgency and frequency could be TMS. I am seeing a leading expert for IC, and my brain in pretty settled on this diagnosis, but I thought I would put this out to the TMS community to see if I could get some response and support for a TMS diagnosis. These symptoms are wearing me down physically and emotionally to the point where I am becoming concerned about my ablility to maintain my job. (I am following the IC diet, taking Elmiron and Atarax but nothing is helping) |

This was one of a zillion symptoms that I went through for 30 years under the loose cluster definition of "fibromyalgia." It's all TMS. Doesn't mean it doesn't suck big-time - I've gotten much better but it's not just like not having back or knee pain. But the IC doesn't bother me any more. If I even get the symptoms a bit, I don't notice them.
A big part of this whole deal is no longer giving our attention to symptoms as though they mean anything.
hope this helps

Wavy Soul, thanks for you reply. I had some issues with back pain for many years, read Sarno's books applied his techniques and did get much much better. These symptoms are so severe that I was just not certain it could be IC. When you applied the TMS techniques, did you immediately begin eating normally, or did you wait until your symptoms had resovled for a while? |

I never did the diet. It was just one of many symptoms that roamed around my body for years. I went to docs a few times, but it was mostly before IC was an official illness with a diet and drugs. Docs just thought I was crazy.
And they were right, in a way!

hi Bereck,
I am so glad I checked the site today. I recovered from IC using Dr. Sarno's books back in 2000. I have had a complete recovery! I do make sure I read the books once in a while (as I do tend to brielfy get symptoms of varying kinds that go away when I remember TMS - heartburn, etc). So, you can DEFINTELY get rid of IC with Dr. Sarno's methods. Just don't give away your book when you're done to make sure you can always remind your brain that you're aware of what it's doing.
I do want to say that it might take time since the diagnosis has settled pretty much in your brain, but DO NOT GIVE UP! You might even want to try Dr. Sarno's DVD in conjunction with the books and this site.
Please feel free to contact me personally if you ever need to. Thanks! -Jen |

Thanks for your message. I will contact you. Today I felt pretty decent. I have been screaming inside my head at my subconscious most of the last two days. I know I have a long way to go, in addition, I still need to accept that this is really TMS, I often do not trust my gut after I have heard from the "experts." However, I am determined. |
