I have this sharp pain located on the right side of the middle of my back. I have to take out of my mind the possibility that may be a tumor in my liver or my lung; however, I self-talk and the pain diminished, and a burning discomforting pain shows in the middle of my back, I start burping a lot, and a little burning sensation in my throat; therefore, I convince myself that the sharp pain has become a heartburn. Later, after telling myself that this is just TMS, I get restless leg syndrome or some pain on the top of my left foot. At the end, pain goes back to my ribcage again. It has gotten better in the 3 weeks that I have been following Dr. David Schechter Workbook, and reading and re-reading Dr. Sarno’s books. It is just very hard to dismiss the pain located in the ribcage when I have not heard of that specific location in any of the materials I have read or heard; however, it is mention, generally the pain can be located anywhere. It is just that my pain and sensations travel in minutes all over. They even become neck pain and after self-talk…ribcage again. At night my upper back feels like it has had a super workout.

Anyone with this particular case?

hard to say. get checked out of course. Then rest assured that Sarno states that Tms affects "any" part of the back, not just lower or middle or upper.

The lat is a huge portion of the back, it fans out from the attachment at the ribs and spans to the arms to pull them down. IMO it would qualify as "any" part of the back.

He does imply that not everything is TMS in that he says that TMS is not a common site in something like the biceps..etc..

I had pain in the left lat, most of the time. When it would get better, then I would get pain in my right lower side, or my neck.
A physio pointed to the area of a curve from scoliosis in my left lat, and commented "this is where you will get pain", and I did, for years. Thankfully, it has been gone for years, thanks to Dr. Sarno.

Oh my so much "physical talk"! Seems to me that if you "get restless leg syndrome" only after telling yourself its TMS, its TMS. If you read Sarno's books, he sees most of the disease du jours as TMS equivalents. Does Sarno take "restless leg syndrome" seriously? I doubt it- pain in your ribs can be simple gas- heartburn and reflux and most of these ailments are seen as "TMS equivalents". If the pain responds to your "self-talk" by moving around or diminishing, its seems to me you are a simple case. Pain travelling around in minutes- what do you think?

If you are still fretting over a tumor, that is easily seen with scans. Have you done that?
