This book by Martin Rush, an M.D. and a psychiatrist, gives examples of many different types of psychosomatic symptoms. Part 1 is Whispers from the body, blushing, coughing, goose bumps, etc. Part 2 is Louder cries from the body, back pain, neck and shoulders, stomach. Part 3 is Women's Bodies, and part 4 is Screams from the body. He gave 2 examples of upper back pain being caused by being
"stabbed in the back" by a friend or relative. Also examples of low back pain from "carrying around the weight of the world". He had patients get breakthroughs ending their pain, when the underlying circumstance was brought out. |

I've just been on Amazon.com reading the Introduction and other parts of this book, using the Search Inside feature, and I ordered myself a copy, as it looks to be very good, and very helpful to TMS people trying to find the emotional connections to their pain as well as many other ailments.
The author was a family practice physician, who went back to school to become a psychiatrist, to study the connections between emotions and illness, then back to his small town to practice and learn more about how events which create emotions can also affect our health.
The writing is good and insightful, and I'm looking forward to reading the whole book. You can find it at:
